Oil spill response report…

leave a comment »

David Freddoso gives  a heads up on the forthcoming report on the government’s response to the oil spill.

UPDATE:   The  report is out,   and Freddoso  informs us that the White  House,  BP,  and the Coast Guard have lied about the assets actually deployed.   Gee,   I’m stunned!   Aren’t you?

I’ve just begun to read the PDF file,   but I hope to find some backup for the claims Dick Morris sets  forth here,   beyond what my Alabama friends have confirmed.

FURTHER UPDATE:  A bipartisan Senate committee voted to establish an oil spill  commission separate from that of His Oneness even before the report came out.

By the way,  there were no  “burrowed in”  Bush appointees overseeing Deepwater Horizon as Nancy Pelosi claimed.

Oil spill timeline..

Read K-Lo’s  comments about this new site,  then go there.  It has by far the most cogent explanation of the Jones Act and its importance.  Yes,  it’s a RightChange site,  but the information is detailed and clear.

Others look at Kagan…

The WaPo predictably  takes the view that Kagan is just perfect if only the mean Republicans won’t  “box her in”  or ask any unsettling questions.   I hope they ask a great many of them,  and that they keep pushing and shoving until she actually answers them.

The Washington Examiner doesn’t find  Kagan’s views a great mystery for a number of excellent reasons.   Shannen Coffin has a fine piece on Kagan’s  manipulation of the statement of a medical organization to protect partial-birth abortion.  It’s certainly information I wasn’t aware of,  and  Kagan’s deliberate distortion blows up the boundary between science and politics and should disqualify her,  particularly in a White House which claims it adheres to science.

Phyllis Schlafly  minces no words about Kagan’s threat to the Constitution.    And get a load of the  latest excuse from Kagan’s office for not comlpying with a FOIA request.

As usual,  Michael Ramirez  sees the nominee quite clearly.
