Unskilled immigrant labor…

hurts existing  workers,  according to the New York Times,  but that’s in Turkey,  so the same logic can not possibly apply to the USA.   To admit that the same principle applies would undercut the liberal/progressive view on Syrian and other refugees,  so of course the Grey Lady will never apply it.

Does it never occur to these people that their policies hurt the poor and low-skilled most of all?   Of course it does,  but they are perfectly happy to have an underclass desperate and dependent on the government for sustenance.   You must remember that for them,  the end always justifies the means,  so there is no lie too great to tell,  no morality so set in stone that it can not be ignored,  in order for them to achieve permanent control of the world.

A would-be burglar  gets stuck  in a chimney,  then the unsuspecting homeowner lights a fire.   I’d say justice has been served,  wouldn’t you?

De Blasio’s ruining Christmas…

leave a comment »

By following his idiotic progressive standards,  Mayor De Blasio has allowed the  vagrants to ruin Christmas in the Little Italy section of The Bronx.   By refusing to clear them off the streets,  he has allowed the area to become so unpleasant and unsafe for the residents that the cost of providing protection for the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony in  Ciccarone Park was too great to bear.

So there will be no ceremony.   The park  will remain  a haven for disorder and uncivil behavior,  and the rot which De Blasio blesses will creep relentlessly onward through the boroughs until it laps at the edges of Gracie Mansion.   Perhaps then he will begin to grasp the folly of his ways,  but I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for it.

Wreaths needed…

leave a comment »

Wreaths Across America  is a nonprofit organization responsible  for placing wreaths on 230,000 headstones at Arlington National Cemetery.   It is currently still short of the funds needed for about 30,000 of them this year.   You can sponsor a wreath for only $15,  but the group will cheerfully accept any amount to help pay for the wreaths.   They have volunteer truckers who deliver the wreaths,   and others who place them on the headstones.   The group receives no government funds.

I sponsor some in memory of deceased family veterans.   Since every generation of my family has served in the military,  I have more than a few names to choose from,  as do many people who live in the South.   Consider providing a wreath at Arlington for someone whose family can’t do so.   I promise you it means a lot to them.

Thanksgiving miracle…

Believe what you will,  but this is a  most astonishing  collection of “coincidences”  brought together at an accident scene to save a baby’s life,  not once,  but twice.

SCOTUS does right…

leave a comment »

The Supreme Court,  for a change,  has reached the correct decision in blocking a  racially discriminatory election in Hawaii.

Basically,  certain interests in Hawaii are attempting to set up a new government representing the “colonized” native Hawaiians.   They do not view American sovereignty as legitimate.    Only  “native”  Hawaiians would be allowed to register and vote,  which is what makes it racially discriminatory.   Of course,  the Obama administration took their side and filed a brief supporting the election,  arguing that even though Congress has never authorized a new government on Hawaii comprised of the native race,  the state should be allowed to establish one.

So His Oneness declares that states have to take the Syrian refugees,  but Hawaii can discriminate on racial grounds and it’s perfectly fine.   He has tumbled from utter hypocrisy to total  insanity.

Modern Rip Van Winkle…

leave a comment »

A man imprisoned for 44 years is  totally bewildered  by modern technology,  which simply did not exist when he went to prison.   I hate to imagine how lost I would be were I in his shoes.   Add to that his long incarceration,  and I can not fathom how he will cope with this strange world he has been released into.

Hungary finds bomb lab…

But there is absolutely no reason to be alarmed,  because  terrorism  isn’t really all that serious,  as His Oneness sees it,  and who cares about Hungary anyway?.

Thanksgiving 2015…

leave a comment »

Start with my favorite turkey companion,  cranberry sauce,  although I confess I prefer my homemade to canned.   Then peruse a  fine collection of helpful turkey day hints from Debby Witt at The Corner,  and another one here  and  here.

Samantha Strayer has an  interesting piece  on what presidents’ Thanksgiving proclamations say about America.   Jay Nordlinger also comments  on those proclamations.

Patrice Lewis reminds us that  dumping Communism  saved the Pilgrims.  Andrea Shea King touches on this  and other,  more humorous notes on the occasion.

Today is an inescapably  religious day,  which is one reason progressives despise it so.   Chuck Norris suggest we  all repeat  the 1777 Congressional Thanksgiving prayer  —  it certainly can’t hurt and it might well help.

I will be with a large group of family and friends for a bountiful meal and fellowship at a cousin’s home.  We will all eat too much and enjoy every bite.   Many of us will go home and reward our bad behavior with a nap,  and all of us will give thanks that we live in America,  still the greatest nation on earth,  despite the best efforts of His Oneness.

Be safe if you’re travelling,  and count your blessings as you spare a thought for those who lack your good fortune.

Rudeness contagious?

with 2 comments

Researchers have found that rudeness  is contagious,  much like a virus.   This makes sense to me,  especially when you consider how often the behavior of a crowd tends to be that of the worst elements within that crowd.   We humans are a nasty lot,  aren’t we?
