22 hours…

How wretched is your city when it is a big deal that  no one  has been shot for 22 hours?   That is Chicago,  Illinois,  run  by progressives,  literally into the ground.

Jean Watters, R.I.P.

leave a comment »

Say a little prayer for Jean Watters.   I doubt this good lady will need it,  but  it can’t hurt.   The Enigma code breakers were quite serious about their work,  and remained tight-lipped about it even after it was declassified in 1975.   One of them has  been buried  in Nebraska where she retired to with her American husband.   Jean Watters contributed greatly to the Allied war effort,  but never felt the need to brag about her valuable work.

Mr. Kurd…

That’s how  Pres. Trump called on a Kurdish reporter at his press conference on Wednesday.  The usual clods on social media went into full blown hysterics over such an “insult”,  but the reporter,  Kurdish journalist Rahim Rashidi,  was pleased and delighted with his new moniker for reasons you’ll both understand and appreciate if you follow the link.

Lego wheelchair…

leave a comment »

An  injured turtle  at the Maryland Zoo has learned to use a wheelchair made of Legos to keep his broken shell off the ground while it heals.

There is a box turtle which manages to get inside the fenced portion of my yard every few months.  It fascinates Big Girl  who always finds it and totes it around until we take it away from her and put it down safely outside the fence.  She is more than capable of crushing it, but just wants to play with it.  I doubt the turtle thinks much of the plan…

Patriotic lad…

This young  man has more respect for our flag than most people in Congress.   He literally lies on the ground to keep the flag from touching it while his two friends fumble folding it properly,  which is a more difficult task than you’d think.   I am pretty sure that this boy’s mother will not utter a single syllable of complaint about the extra dirt on her son’s clothes.

A free speech win…

leave a comment »

Given that the notion of free speech has been practically non-existent on most college campuses for some years,  learning that there has been progress in many areas is welcome news.   I was surprised to learn that North Carolina is leading the way,  since I tend to think first of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill,  a toxic stew of progressivism with Lefty faculty forever trying to obstruct a relatively sensible administration.

Please read the link  contained herein  so that you can warn everyone you know with nearly college-aged children.

Hats off to the Martin Center and FIRE for conducting this important research.

Could Cox win?

California with a Republican governor?   Well,  it has happened before.  That benighted state could certainly benefit from being run by a businessman instead  of yet another leftie loon.
