Might as well…

…eliminate the position  of internal  watchdog,  since one can scarcely claim that the New York Times was actually using the position…

The paper’s rationale for cutting the position is hysterical.

He was right…

That is,  Albert Einstein was correct about  black holes  and matter and what happens in an event horizon.   Einstein was right about an awful lot of stuff,  much of which I don’t understand in the least,  but the article makes this piece of the cosmic puzzle pretty clear.

Memorial Day 2017…

leave a comment »

We were due for rain,  but have thus far escaped it,  so we’re busy on the grill and at the coolers and the antique ice cream churn,  which is a grand way to wear the youngsters out while ensuring a great increase in their appreciation for ice cream.   In other words,  I’m having a fine Memorial Day with family and friends.   I’ll update this later,  but have  a couple  of timely cartoons  for now,  plus an overview of  Trump’s speech and how to keep  from confusing  Memorial Day and Veterans Day.

Jim Bunning, R.I.P.

Hall of Fame pitcher and former Senator Jim Bunning  died this  week,  after suffering a stroke last fall.   He was as blunt and tenacious in Congress as he had been on the athletic field,  but I expect he was always prouder of his perfect games in baseball than of his service in Congress.

Beer pipeline…

leave a comment »

Heavy metal fans like their beer, consuming an average of one gallon per person over the three-day Wacken Open Air Festival in Wacken, Germany.   The customary struggle to deliver that tasty goodness to attendees will not happen again,  as they are doing away with the customary trek across the fields with very heavy kegs full of beer,  thanks to the installation of  four miles of  underground piping.

What IRS really needs…

…is not  more money,  but to have its upper management levels summarily dismissed,  be forced to eliminate the wasteful conferences and team-building exercises and  party gifts.   Perhaps a real fear of losing one’s job and future pension will concentrate the employees’ minds sufficiently for them to do their damned jobs.

I’m quite certain the tea Party membership would be happy to volunteer to help them.

Still mad, Michelle?

Having her husband with her on this leg of their Italian trip does not seem to  have improved  the disposition of Our Lady of Perpetual Dissatisfaction,  and her fashion sense remains as warped as ever.  Does she truly think she looks fashionable and fine in that outfit?   I’m sure she does, but the fact that she has to lift the legs of her trousers tells us that they are too long, or that her footwear needs heels.

The pants do nothing to hide her stomach or disguise the considerable size of her rear,  and the white top just reminds us that she is basically flat-chested and very short-waisted.   If I were a fashion designer,  I would not allow the woman to wear anything from my line ,  and if I were her friend,  I’d tell her she needs a seamstress who can fit the clothes she has to make them look better.
