The Minnesota man who dared poke fun at NSA and got in big trouble for it, has settled out of court. Dan McCall says he won, and it appears that indeed he did. Good for him!
If the statistics are accurate, an awful lot of Americans take antidepressants. The drugs can be enormously helpful, but they can also wreak havoc on an individual, and as this piece indicates, their psychological side-effects have frequently played a part in homicides. If I were depressed, I’d take St. John’s wort, an herb long used by the Germans for any depression not requiring hospitalization. Modern doctors are too quick to prescribe the chemical versions in my opinion.
The New York Post recently exposed Manhattan’s Murry Bergtraum HS for Business Careers in which failing students could get full credit without attending class, but instead watch video lessons and take tests online. The administrators orchestrated a student letter writing campaign, which demonstrated perfectly what a fine job the “failure factory” has done for them.

This time the organization helped student Robert Van Tuinen, who was banned from passing out copies of the Constitution by Modesto Junior College. If you have a few spare coins, pass them on to the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education. It does wonderful work in protecting free speech rights for students.
The editors of National Review Online have a first-rate piece up on the disaster which is Venezuela. The madness of the Maduro regime is as brutal as that of the late, unlamented Chavez, and the Obama Administration is as hapless and fuzzy as ever in its response to the wickedness. The people aren’t asking for much from their government. We should demand a lot more from ours.
