Speakers of note…
Sen. Jeff Sessions did a nice job in the Senate this weekend, and Rep. Marco Rubio did an even better one in the House.
Lest you forget the point, this video reminds you.
Wall St. hypocrites…
Charles Gasparino reminds us that the same people pretending to be such wise men now were running around with their hair on fire three years ago, claiming that the world would end if they didn’t get bail-outs. They also donated heavily to His Oneness, purchasing a seat at the big table which has been very lucrative for them.
Debt debate upscaled…
Charles Krauthammer is correct to point out that the debate is really about the size and cost of government. I also can’t disagree with Joseph Lawler’s observation that we will get a debt ceiling increase of some sort and it won’t suit anyone who wants to cut spending and have an issue to upset the re-election campaign of His Oneness. Yet a “clean” agreement would be even worse than what we’re likely to get.
He wants more of this…
We have yet another study showing that government welfare doesn’t help the disadvantaged improve their situation. Of course, it has provided plenty of jobs for public union employees, who show up secure in the knowledge that their bosses don’t expect them to get a single family off welfare, only to add more to it. By that standard, His Oneness is doing a hell of a job, isn’t he?
It ain’t bad…
That’s what Thomas Sowell says about the Boehner plan, and when Sowell talks, I listen.
Eyeballs off…
Peter Kirsanow has another question for His Oneness. I’d like it answered, too.
Compromise…
is a word used frequently by His Oneness, but seldom employed, as captured perfectly by this cartoon.
JFK’s deficits…
Joseph Lawler responds to a New York Times piece blaming George Bush for every bit of the deficit by pointing out where it started.
Dancing squid…
isn’t what I want for dinner. It has always struck me that the Japanese, who tend to be such a serious people, do like to play with their food even while turning it into art and theater.
