This is real?

Apparently so,  though you’d think a candidate  who lives in  Colorado would be sufficiently aware of guns to realize that the average pepper spray’s maximum effectiveness range runs about 10 feet,  meaning you’d be dead long before you got close enough to a shooter’s eyes to do any damage.   The average short-barreled pistol is most accurate at 10 to 12 feet,  but a shooter is not going to wait for you to close the distance.  Of course,  if you’re a decent shot and in practice,  your effective range would be at least twice as far.  And yes,  you and your children can thank the Lord that he is a Democrat!

Some Christmas music….

A group of veterans owns and  operates the Black Rifle Coffee Company.   I haven’t had the opportunity to try their coffee,  their  take on  playing Christmas carols is outstanding!

Black Friday breakdown…

leave a comment »

Full confession:  I don’t do Black Friday.   I stay away from stores,  both brick and mortar and online varieties.  I choose not to subject myself to the bargain hunting masses  resembling crocodiles  at feeding time,  but with firearms.   Not even for the  free gun  giveaways at Cabela’s,  though I expect shoppers there to behave better than these men arguing over  a toy  car.   I will also not be among  the millions  in my pajamas searching for deals on Cyber Monday.

This decision means I don’t have to care about the Amazon workers in Germany and Italy  striking on  Black Friday,  or the  universal chaos  the event causes in the industrialized world.   Nor do I have to contemplate how to sneak in early by wearing what  appears to  be store employee uniforms.  I have long known that holiday shopping is the  make or break event for most retailers,  but since I have finished my shopping,  I can simply  contemplate how  stores are trying to draw Amazon customers,  be ready to take advantage of anything spectacular,  and be very pleased that I am not inside a store being tracked  by facial  recognition software.

To those of you who survived Black Friday,  congratulations!   For those who selected the comforts of home over survival,  welcome to the anti-frantic shopping club.  I’m going to reheat some turkey and dressing,  make some breakfast bread with leftover cranberry sauce,  and trim my pepper plants so I can fit them all inside my front hall.   That and revel in the fact that last year’s record-setting number of  background requests  for guns to the FBI has been broken by the more than 200,000 requests made this year  — some of you have truly woken up!

Eagle freed…

leave a comment »

…by an Army veteran who patiently  shot away  branches bit by bit for 90 minutes until he could get the rope which had entangled the young eagle.

If it were not for guns and a man who knew how to use them,  the eagle would have died hanging from that tree.   What say you now,  gun-grabbers?

TSA without humor…

TSA has no sense of humor,  or proportion,  but it is certainly great at protecting us from things which  do not  threaten us.   When it comes to actual threats…not so much…

Not-so-smart guns…

leave a comment »

For anyone who believes in the myth of smart guns,  let me say up front that the only smart gun is a weapon in the hands of a trained gun-owner.

Jon Stokes has produced a  valuable article  on the risks and dangers of the so-called smart guns the anti-gun people are pushing so heavily.   Read,  understand,  then act to protect your Second Amendment rights.
