Yesterday we…
…had a treat looking at Candace Owens. Today we turn to Rep. Jim Lyons who used the stupidity of the House Democrats in Massachusetts to completely undo an idiotic piece of legislation so thoroughly that they stuffed it back into the legislative closet. Enjoy this masterful use of the argument of the absurd in a legislative setting.
Veto war coming?
There should have been a veto war for the past seven years, but Harry Reid proved quite effective in blocking legislation from ever reaching the desk of His Oneness, so he did not need to veto many bills.
It would be a smart political move, but only if the legislation is actually popular with We the People, and actually would undo some of the incredible damage His Oneness has done to this nation.
Reign of paralysis…
Harry Reid has paralyzed the Senate for years, intent on protecting his party from being responsible for votes, changing the Senate rules to achieve his aims. Even when presented with House legislation unanimously approved by Democrats he has failed to do his job. If he were a Republican, there would be a phalanx of headlines about the do-nothing Senate leader. Now there is just the endless complaint about Republican obstructionism.
Good riddance to to the worst Senate leader in my lifetime.
Another day, another speech, another lie…
The WaPo’s Glenn Kessler has awarded four Pinocchios to the claim made by His Oneness that Republicans have filibustered about 500 pieces of legislation. Obama told a big whopper, no matter how you add or subtract or parse or spin or interpret.
U.N. sewer…
Republicans are making an effort to clean up at least part of the cesspool of corruption and incompetence which is the United Nations.
Binding Congress…
It can’t even bind itself, which is another reason the debt ceiling agreement is so horrible, but it may also set another dangerous precedent. If we elected representatives we could actually trust….
Good intentions…
Cracked.com looks at 6 bills which appeared good on paper, to legislators at least, and turned out very badly indeed.
ObamaCare is not destined to join the group, because at least some of the legislators and their aides knew exactly the damage it would cause to the finest health care system in the world, so its consequences were very definitely intended.
Conyers on not reading bills…
“What good is reading the bill if it’s a thousand pages and you don’t have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?”
That’s from a recent speech by long-time Democratic Rep. John Conyers at the National Press Club luncheon, a clip of which you can watch here.
