Good riddance to Grayson…

If Alan Grayson  loses his bid  for re-election,   I can’t imagine many people being regretful.   He is such an awful creature that even Sen. Harry Reid and former Congressman Anthony Weiner,  both rather awful critters  themselves,  want nothing to do with him.

Reign of paralysis…

leave a comment »

Harry Reid has  paralyzed the  Senate for years,  intent on protecting his party from being responsible for votes,  changing the Senate rules to achieve his aims.   Even when presented with House legislation unanimously approved  by Democrats he has failed to do his job.   If he were a Republican,  there would be a phalanx of headlines about the do-nothing Senate leader.   Now there is just the endless complaint about Republican obstructionism.

Good riddance to to the worst Senate leader in my lifetime.

Reid, meet petard…

leave a comment »

Petard is a 16th Century French word for a small bomb used to blow up gates and walls when breaching fortifications,  and if someone is hoist with his own petard,  he has blown himself up with his own bomb.

That is essentially  what happened  to Sen. Harry Reid this week when Republicans voted to advance to the Senate floor a Democratic constitutional amendment allowing Congress  to regulate all campaign speech and spending.   Reid actually admitted he never intended for the amendment to go to a real floor debate,  expecting the opposition to vote against advancement and leave the floor open for debates on things like pay equality and minimum wage to frame the coming elections for Democrats.   Now there will be scant time for anything else as they defend their Senate majority,  since the move  guarantees a lengthy debate over Democratic efforts to limit the First Amendment.

Koch Brothers smart move…

leave a comment »

The Koch Brothers have given a  $25 million grant  to the United Negro College Fund.   Most of the money  ($18.5 million) will go toward a scholarship program.   The other $6.5 million is provided for general support to historically black colleges and universities and the UNCF,  $4 million of which will be set aside for loan assistance.

We haven’t heard a word from Sen. Harry Reid on this new development.   Why not?   Is he unprepared to say that the evil Koch Brothers have bough the United Negro College Fund?

UPDATE:   Now the  Left is  screeching about this gift,  proving that it is more interested in politics than anything else.   Remember that it also  objected vehemently  when the Koch Brothers gave a hospital $100 million,  and was joined in the protest by a nurses’ union  of all things.

Something about Harry…

I think well-done satire qualifies as art,  and the editors at National Review have created a stunning example  with this  proffering of condolences to Sen. Harry Reid on his loss of mental balance with regard to the Koch Brothers.

Same old, same old…

Considering that the victory speech by His Oneness Tuesday made the same  promises he spent the last four years breaking,  who can be surprised that Senate majority Leader Harry Reid wants to limit the ability of the GOP  to filibuster, and that he is already insisting that  taxes be raised,  but that he’s willing to work with republicans,  which he has not done in the past.  This from the man who has failed to pass a budget in the Senate for FOUR years.

Just as Obama is willing to work with those who agree iwth him,  Reid is happy to work with the GOP as long as they do what he wants,  which is the classic Democratic definition of compromise.

Not serious about debt…

Sen.  Harry Reid has appointed Senators John Kerry,  Max Baucus, and Patty Murray to the super-committee.   Andrew Stiles comments on the  selection here.

Kerry and Murray are big taxers and spenders,  and Baucus claims to be a moderate in that he’s always talking moderation,  but rarely votes that way.

I don’t expect Nancy Pelosi to do any better,  thus proving Democrats are serious about only one thing  — raising taxes in order to keep spending.
