Green dreams…

Do you want your energy needs to be met by hoofs?  That’s part of the future the  eco-Nazis envision  for you.   Do click on the link for the New York Times piece after you read Mark Krikorian’s amusing post.

Welcome back, Carter…

leave a comment »

Scared Monkeys  compares  His Oneness to Jimmy Carter,  and includes a wonderful cartoon.  Our  failed three-year  experiment in Keynesian economics may have something to do with that,  along with His Oneness being a big fan of the  one “big”  you can’t escape.

Or perhaps it’s the idiocy of the Obama  energy policy,  under which,  according to the man himself,  energy prices would “necessarily skyrocket”,  yet he is now claiming they won’t.

Could it be Obama’s utter hypocrisy on “undisclosed donors“,  who presented an existential threat to the republic  —  until His Oneness decided to use them himself?

Maybe the  war on portion  sizes and “bad” food being waged by Our Lady of Perpetual Dissatisfaction puts us in mind of Carter keeping the schedule for the White House tennis courts.  Or possibly the sudden USDA attack on the  mighty potato  isn’t to our liking.

Pres. Carter was,  as our current president is held to be,  an intelligent man.  He always believed he was the smartest critter in the room,  even while doing incredibly stupid things,  and blamed We the People for his failures.   Sound familiar yet?

At any rate,  the bin  Laden bounce   has proven helpful to His Oneness in only one category,  and that will most likely be short-lived.

Oneness b.s…

leave a comment »

I caught just enough of Obama’s presser to be irritated.  After whining that it was not right to keep issuing Continuing Resolutions to fund the government and that Congress should produce a budget with real cuts,  he immediately said Pell Grants shouldn’t be cut.  Is there anyone on the planet who still believes His Oneness is willing to cut anything besides the military?

He then proclaims that domestic oil production is up,  which it is,  while completely skating over the fact that it would be WAY up if not  for his  anti-domestic energy policies.   He also claimed that his policies have led to a reduction in imported energy levels,  but that is due mostly to people driving less because they can’t afford the high gas prices his policies have delivered to us.   Gasoline now costs 67% more than it day the day he walked into the White House.

One of his energy advisers  admitted to unfamiliarity with  the Bakken formation,  which holds billions of barrels of oil, or at least 200 years’ worth,  and could already be in production if not for the eco-Nazis and progressive policymakers.

Our long-term debt and deficit are not caused by having Head Start teachers,  or public broadcasting, but by rising medical costs.   Of course, Obama’s party did not even offer a budget last year because they couldn’t dream up a way to avoid admitting how much money they were throwing away.

I’m also reminded of why he does so few live pressers — he says “uh”  repeatedly,  but of course he must as he has to filter what he actually thinks to someone acceptable before he actually says it.   The only genuine emotions he seems capable of are arrogance and irritation.  He tells a Japanese reporter that he was “heartbroken” about the earthquake and tsunami in Japan with the same inflection as he would have on announcing a garbage pickup.

Color me supremely unimpressed.  His Oneness may be a gifted politician,  but don’t tell me he’s brilliant or super well-educated.   I know more about energy production that he and his advisers combined,  and it would appear I also have a  better grasp of  economics.   It’s a dead certainty I understand freedom better  — I insist on retaining it;  he wants to deprive me of it.   I am now free to return to hauling about a quarter-ton of seedlings out of the greenhouse….

Arctic drilling suspended…

As if killing the Gulf Coast economies by killing drilling were insufficient,  His Oneness has now  abruptly suspended Arctic drilling, despite the fact it takes place in shallow water.

A victory for BP…

leave a comment »

BP has succeeded in inserting  a siphon into the oil rig pipe.   Now they have to slowly displace the nitrogen in the pipe and start sucking up the oil from the pipe.   It looks as if  Energy Secretary Chu,  who signaled his lack of confidence in the industry experts trying to control the leaking oil well by  hand-picking a team of scientists with reputations for creative problem solving, may have had His Oneness send them all to Houston for nothing,  though they’ll surely at least  study some data to avoid that scenario.

Meanwhile the New York Times is wringing its hands over the giant oil plumes forming underwater and searching desperately for shots of oily birds and sea life.   Der Spiegel wonders if deep sea drilling has a future,  and Mexico is hoping some oil hits its shores so  it can sue BP –  – where else is it going to get money?

Unfortunately,  models are suggesting that some of the oil is simply evaporating.    CBS notes His Oneness is  angrily trying to deflect any blame for the spill,  and McClatchy observes that the White House  spin machine is in warp drive and that the president has avoided taking a hands-on role.     Even the WaPo notes that his goal is to contain the oil spill and the fallout,   the latter of which a new poll shows he’s succeeding at.    Unfortunately for the energy haters,  the same poll also revealed continuing public support for drilling.

Finally,  the American Spectator points us to a piece on what would be happening in an actual  free market,   and The Corner links to a Cato Institute  editorial sighing that no lessons on energy policy have been learned from this spill.

Cap-and-trade in the House…

leave a comment »

The excerable Waxman-Markey bill narrowly passed the House,  and provided some moments of levity.    Waxman added 300 pages at 3 AM Friday,  so there was no complete bill,  just piles of pages with people trying to stuff the amendments into the proper places.    It still wasn’t up on THOMAS when I last checked.   So we have yet another  “bill” passed unread by anyone.    That is the modus operandi of the Democrats,  and of Obama,  because they are aware the more people know about such bills,  the more they find to object to.  They will attempt to do the same thing to the Obamacare health plan,  so be forewarned.

Here is Speaker Pelosi’s victory announcement.     The 8 Republicans who provided the margin of victory should be taken to the woodshed.   Yes,   I realize 8 of the 44 Democrats allowed to take political cover by voting “No” might have switched,  but these Republicans made it easy for them and should hear about it.

One must never underestimate the overall  stupidity or particular ignorance of  politicians,  or their cupidity,  just as one must seldom accuse them of an overabundance of courage or honesty.

Prime example:   The number of pols nattering on about the cloud of CO2 atop our atmosphere.    The problem is that CO2 is 1.5 times denser than air,  so it tends to go down,  not up.   Think of the poisonous lakes in Africa which occasionally belch — ever hear of the CO2 and methane galloping uphill to kill a village?    Of course not,  but that simple logic is beyond most Congress critters.

You must understand the corruption of the Obama administration and the EPA.    First,  the EPA must declare CO2 a dangerous pollutant in order to regulate it.    This required the EPA to ignore its own researcher’s inconvenient  report on  greenhouse gases  —  thank the Competitive Enterprise Institute for unearthing the emails showing not only EPA censorship,  but also the lies uttered to protect its preordained conclusion.

The wheels  are about to come off of the global warming/climate change stampede,  and in a big way,  but we can’t depend on truth and facts to carry the day.    Start insisting your Senators do the correct thing and the smart thing by stopping this unconstitutional taxing scheme.

Energy costs will skyrocket…

leave a comment »

Given the fancy dancing being done by the minions of His Oneness on what a cap-and-trade system will do,  you should watch him tell you himself.

If you don’t think you can stomach it,  here’s the meat of his January, 2008 conversation with San Francisco Chronicle editors:

“Under my plan of a cap and trade system electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket,  even,  you know,  regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad,  because I’m capping greenhouse gases,  coal powered plants,  you know,  natural gas,  you name it, whatever the plants were,  whatever the industry was,  they would have to retrofit their operations.   That will cost money.   They will pass that money on to consumers.”

So he clearly knows the damage of his plan,   yet he wants America to believe that the $1,000 he’s going to pay the favored few will make up for a hidden tax that will increase the price of EVERYTHING?

If you were half as stupid as Obama believes you are,   you’d already be dead except that respiration is an involuntary reflex.    You’d be wearing a body-length bib,  because you’d be a drooling cretin,  a mere blob of associated cells.    Oh wait – that’s what he calls a fetus, isn’t it?
