Being too green  causes environmental  problems,  not to mention psychological ones.

Earth Day 2013…

leave a comment »

You do know you’re celebrating Vladimir  Lenin’s birthday,  right?   And you do know that Earth Day’s co-founder,  Ira Einhorn,  was a leftist leader who cheered on the Viet Cong in the 1960’s, hoping for a United States defeat.   Then he adopted environmentalism,  hosting one of the very first earth Day rallies in 1970.   Oh, and he’s currently serving a life sentence in a federal prison  because he murdered and “composted” his estranged girlfriend,  Helen “Holly” Maddux,  back in 1977.

Don’t you feel super-virtuous now?   His Oneness certainly does,  as you can tell from his proclamation.

The environmental movement is where many on the Left took refuge, thinking it a great place from which to claim moral high ground while emptying the pockets of the gullible.

UPDATE:  Some additional  thoughts here.   Plus an incredibly  explanatory cartoon  by Yogi Love.

Green garbage…

Property insurers are using green junk science scenarios to keep their prices high,  despite the relative lack of recent disasters.   Utility companies are  selling you out as well.

The greens won’t stop until they have  de-industrialized Europe  — and they’ve been busy here too,  and  not merely killing anything which looks like industry, but doing  incredibly stupid things.

Meanwhile,  the UN is trying to  enlist Hollywood to instill green panic.

His Oneness is still shrieking that environmental green creates jobs — in the face of  these staggering  real numbers from abroad.

Finally,  some good news on the environmental front:  the  “clean energy”  advocates are getting their  “asses kicked”  inside the Beltway.

Words matter…

That’s one of the favorite sayings of Dr. Frank Luntz,  and he’s  correct.   I taught business writing for a while,  and one of the first things I tried to drum into my students’ heads was that the most direct letter,  which is generally the shortest,  gets the first read and the first response.    The second point was that you needed to use the correct words to execute your message.

Dr. Luntz has an excellent book,  Words That Work: It’s Not What You Say, It’s What People Hear.

Liberals have for years used  “investment”  for  “spending”  and “infrastructure” for  “liberal  wish list”.     More recently,  the eco-nazis have switched from  “global warming”  to  “climate change”,  in no small measure because the planet is currently cooling,  not warming.

The New York Times has a good piece  on the environmentalists’ efforts to change their terminology,  but doesn’t go beyond saying they’re trying to  “find new ways to frame environmental issues and so build public support for climate change legislation and other initiatives.”    Oh,  come on,  you don’t seriously imagine that the Gray Lady would actually tell you that those groups don’t give a flip about the earth,  but seek to use it as a means to acquire power and control.

Of course,  the Times had to issue an enormous correction to its front page global warming article touted by former VP Al Gore during his Congressional testimony as evidence that industry was clouding the science of climate change.    Basically,  the major premise of the article was dead wrong.    In fact,  it was  so wide of the mark that it can not have been  simple error,   mere misunderstanding or misinterpretation.

Of course,   I’m always delighted when once again Al Gore is caught using misinformation and non-facts to promote his case.   I was quite happy to see Rep.  Marsha Blackburn confront Gore during the aforementioned testimony.
