TSA nominee withdraws…

Have a second helping of good news to go along with Brown’s win in Kennedy country.   Erroll Southers,  the nominee of His Oneness to head TSA,  has withdrawn from consideration.

“This partisan climate is unacceptable and I refuse to allow myself to remain part of their dialogue,”   the nominee declared,  positively dripping nobility.

Of course,  this decision had absolutely nothing to do with the stain leftover from his FBI career,  which would have barred him from being employed as a screener at TSA,  and about which he lied to the Senate.  And it certainly was unconnected with the fact that impertinent Republicans wanted a straight answer to the question of whether he would seek to unionize TSA.    Since there is video evidence indicating he most certainly would do so,  threading the needle became a bit too complicated even for the bunch of accomplished liars at the  White House.

When a group of republicans wrote the White House,  asking when they knew that Mr. Southers had lied to Congress,  they received no reply.   And now that the nominee has withdrawn,  the White House will refuse to respond by saying the withdrawal has made it a moot point.

Here’s more evidence that Democrats didn’t get the message from the Massachusetts  special election.   By their rejection of Sen.  John Thune’s amendment to the debt-limit bill,  which would have sewn up the TARP fund and committed all TARP repayments to deficit reduction,  we are assured that Democrats do indeed intend to use this as a slush fund.

Rep. Paul Ryan tells National Review Online that Democrats are trying to cram health care reform through by the  reconciliation process,  which is  being promoted in some parts.  The issue has become a hot potato to  be tossed around.

Go  here for a cogent explanation of what the process is and how it works.  You’ll see why it’s a rather unappetizing method of sausage-making on the Hill.

And an NRO reader points us to  this blast from just over a year ago.
