Teddy 24/7…

leave a comment »

I came in to dodge a thunderstorm and the Kennedy funeral was the only thing on.    There were a fair number of people lining the streets near Arlington National Cemetery, and most of them were clapping.     It was fitting for him,  but I don’t remember anyone clapping when Ronald Reagan’s motorcade passed by.    Respectful silence, a hand to the brow in salute,   American flags,  but no clapping that I can recall.

The foreign press is less enthralled than our MSM.   One radio station here put liberal commentators on to talk about the senator in place of Rush Limbaugh,  who very sensibly said we should honor the man’s fight for life,  not his ideas.   Britain’s Daily Mail knows Kennedy hated the UK,  and ponders why Gordon Brown knighted him.

National Review offers a symposium on him which is very balanced compared to the gushings of the Irish priest who attended the senator’s deathbed.    His Oneness delivered the eulogy one would expect from a man who owes his office in large part to the Kennedy blessing bestowed upon him.    I wonder if Obama remembered that he had insulted Kennedy and had to do some groveling to get that endorsement?    I’ll bet he doesn’t remember lying about having insulted him in the first place.    Kennedy managed to achieve what he told Vanity Fair was his perfect happiness,  and Mark Alexander at the Patriot Post looks back at the hypocrisy which threaded throughout the man’s life.

Rick Moran at the American Thinker reminds us of Teddy’s offer to help the Soviets “understand” Reagan,  which MSM continues its total silence on.   Yet Kennedy and Reagan were friends.    Matthew Vadum thinks that episode revealed the darker side of  Kennedy’s character and was treason.

Ellis Washington finds nothing to praise him for,  and neither does Joseph Farrah,  who reveals something I didn’t know — that Teddy admitted he was a socialist on the floor of the Senate.    After reading this revolting bit from Ed Morrissey,   I can think of nothing nice to say about him either.

Give ’em a sign…

From The Corner, a wonderful video from gratitudeoperation.org, showing how to sign “thank you” to those who should have our deepest gratitude,  the military.

I haven’t flown since 9/11 because I don’t wish to end up in jail for strangling a screener,  but I thank every military member,  by word if close,  or by sign if I catch their eye at a distance.    Too many have family who served in “Nam and were spit on when they returned.    These guys and gals deserve better.
