I note that I’ve already heard several liberal pundits say that transnationalism means weighing international law when considering our own. No, it means more like ignoring US law in order to use other nations’ laws he prefers.

You may have heard of Harold Koh, Obama’s nominee to be the chief legal adviser to the State Department. You will hear that the term “transnationalism” is an epithet invented by evil conservatives to attack “internationalists” like Koh.
As Ed Whelan points out at Bench Memos, Koh and his ilk have earned the epithet by their disregard for American national interests.
