The oldest telescope?
This little tin tube doesn’t look like much, but Dutch archaeologists working in the city of Delft say that once cleaned up, it proved to be a primitive telescope, capable of magnifying objects up to five times. Likely a gadget owned by a wealthy citizen, its is thought to be from the early 17th Century, as by 1650 tin was no longer used for such items, and much better lenses were available.
