Why is the Justice Department having DEA seize  sodium thiopental?

The claim is that there are concerns about the overseas source of the drug,  which is the first one used in a three-part combination for executions.   But neither DEA nor Justice will comment on the probe.

The practical effect is a freeze on executions in the states which used the drug but haven’t been able to obtain an alternative chemical.   Governance by fiat,  I think.
