Stupid students…

I have said repeatedly that students are stupid.  College just sets them on a path to becoming the over-educated fools  who wish to be in charge of everything.  They are commonly taught by those who wished to be highly regarded without developing an actual skill or knowledge base to make it worth a student’s time to listen to them.  I was a college student back in the Dark Ages, and one of my professors assigned grades based on your seat — up and down the rows — A, B, C, etc.  He was duller than dishwater and appeared to know nearly as much about human health as my parakeet did.  Yet in a class of 50,  I was the only student who put my case before the Dean of Women.   I had another professor who literally went crazy mid-semester.  I figured out how to make As, and was furious when the department head changed everyone else’s grades according to what they had before she went mad.

I smoked back then,  but I was very active physically,  drank moderately and walked everywhere.  The most dangerous thing I did was plow through crowds protesting the Viet Nam War.   Many of them were so drunk or stoned I never considered myself to be at any real risk of injury.  The few times anyone was sufficiently unimpaired to swing a sign at me,  I was easily able to block it or take it away and occasionally retain it as my own weapon as I moved along.

If students at the University of Alabama are  having parties  with COVID-infected classmates in a contest to see who catches the virus,  they are dumber than rocks.  Their parents should be ashamed of the humans they produced,  but I think we need not worry about brain damage, as it appears far too late for that to be a consideration.   But I think Associated Press and several  somebodies lied  through their teeth.   We are meant to assume that the students are from University of Alabama.  The only other institution in Tuscaloosa is the historically black Stillman College.   By failing to name the school,  they can print quite a misleading story and avoid having to explain that most of the current new cases are in the college-aged groups,  and as large percentage of those are blacks.

Other groups of young people are congregating elsewhere.  It doesn’t appear they are in contests to infect,  but they are doing a fine job of spreading the disease.  There are more than a couple of mayors who have issued mandatory mask orders.   Some of them have dropped the curfews they had in place,  which makes no sense to me.   And not a single one will tell their constituents the age groups, races, and cultures  responsible for the new spread.   I am grateful once again that I live in the county,  not any city, and that I can stay on my property and  live comfortably except for hitting a grocery store every few weeks.

Perhaps the students are just early adopters of a  human challenge  trial.   And it’s not as if they  are alone  in the recklessness.
