Democrats campaigning…

leave a comment »

You must watch Rep. Jim Moran claiming that his opponent’s 24 years in the Army don’t count as public service.   You won’t see the video discussed in MSM,  which is frantically trying to promote the Democrat’s new meme that any Republican  is extreme.   Politico.com just  flat-out lied about Sarah Palin,  Sean Hannity,  and Mark Levin,  and getting caught in the lie is what should happen to those using unnamed sources.

Obama is in full cry about the  meanness and stupidity of those who disagree with him,   and whining about  distrust and fear,  while Sarah Palin is outed as really smart by no less than  liberal rock star John  Mellencamp.   You know it’s bad when  foreign press notes the nasty anti-American tone of Obama and his fellow Dems.   Elsewhere,  Democrats are using third-party candidates to draw off potential Republican votes.

Scant media attention is being paid to desperate Democrats abandoning their pledges to voters,  and no where nearly enough to Democratic candidates accidentally  saying what  they really think,  like Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper,  or Harry Reid assuming credit  for saving us from a world-wide depression.   Others are frantically digging for anything which could conceivably be  turned into dirt.   If all else fails,  just demonize, then demoralize.   Or you can be Joe Biden and  laughably lie.

Union bosses  have fired a worker for wearing a George H.W. Bush sweatshirt at an Obama rally,  despite the garment referencing the navy ship his son serves on,  not the president.

If you don’t think Republicans are likely to take a big number of seats,  peruse this ABC News  piece pondering whether His Oneness would be better off if Democrats lose Congress.   But Dems can rest secure that most media outlets will report so as to put a Republican opp9onent in the worst possible light,  as done with Stephen Broden  here by inferring he advocates the violent overthrow of the government.   He doesn’t,  but in speaking of our Founders  he accurately said it was the last option for them.      Would you be astonished to learn Broden is running  against Eddie Bernice Johnson,  currently under investigation for giving Congressional Black Caucus scholarship money to her family?   Another example is of Fiorina,  here. You won’t see many stories lauding Republican candidates unless they’ve done something extraordinary,  while  stories such as Steny Hoyer punching his opponent in the back never make headlines

The bill that wouldn’t die…

leave a comment »

ObamaCare continues to ooze its way forward like some particularly  aggressive slime mold.   You can go  here to see what Pelosi and Reid are up to,  but if you’ve already showered and don’t feel like subjecting yourself to congressional progressive bug juice,  just read Daniel Foster’s post about it  at this link.

If you don’t think progressives believe you’re dumber than dirt,  you haven’t been paying attention!

Are you racist?

With all the uproar about Harry Reid’s perfectly true,  but highly politically incorrect,  comments about His Oneness as a presidential candidate,  have some fun with this  handy chart for determining  racism.  (h/t to K-Lo at The Corner)

Everyone seems to be overlooking the fact that ole Harry’s remarks tells you that Democrats think the average Democrat is a knuckle-dragging racist.   How charming!

Stimulus contracts by state…

with 3 comments

I remember stimulus package supporters proclaiming that the hardest hit states would get help first.    Well,  not so much,  according to this excellent interactive piece in USAToday,  which offers some decent explanations as  well.

Of course you know His Oneness stopped  in Nevada to do a big fundraiser  for Majority Leader Harry Reid on the pretense of releasing his self-congratulatory new report entitled  “100 Days, 100 Projects.”

Politico.com ungraciously pointed out that the 26-page pat on the back  listed no Nevada projects.     The White House aide pointed to Recovery.gov and noted that there are “many” programs in Nevada receiving stimulus money,  and claimed some $868 million has been allocated to fund a few dozen programs there.

The USAToday map shows contracts of totaling only $145,527 have been awarded,  or a  whole 6 cents per capita.    Recovery.gov is a fine example of not only the general incompetence of the federal government,  but also the huge gap between  hope and change in this administration,  which is proving as transparent as the red clay mud of the Mississippi Delta.

The real truth is that at the state level,  the stimulus money favors social programs,  not work.    In other  words, the stimulus is legalized vote-buying with YOUR money.

Pelosi’s torture…

leave a comment »

Speaker Nancy Pelosi has taken so many different positions on what she knew about waterboarding that it has been hard to keep up.    No wonder liberals are so fond of the word “evolve” .   The Examiner has the best timeline on her stream of lies.    When the WaPo  reported that a top Pelosi aide learned about the technique in 2003,   I figured the truth might come out.    The best she can do now is claim a protest would have been improper in 2003, despite knowing Rep. Jane Harman did so.

Craig Smith explains why the matter does indeed make him feel less safe.   I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that Sen. Jay Rockefeller is just as dishonest on the subject,  and even Harry Reid has joined  the scuffle.    Interestingly, the Democrats’ thirst for investigations and criminal charges has noticeably decreased in the last few days.

Lisa Schriffen explains why Madam Speaker will get away with her bad acts, no matter what else is revealed.     But this is  perhaps the best summation.

Harry Reid lies to his constituents…

leave a comment »

Sen. Harry Reid claimed in a March 2nd letter to constituents that he supports the E-Verify system.

But when the “stimulus” was being debated,   Reid prevented any discussion of including the House-passed provision requiring use of the E-Verify system by contractors receiving stimulus money,  which would have helped prevent illegals from getting these taxpayer-subsidized jobs.

In conference,  he and Speaker Pelosi stripped out the House’s E-Verify provision.   On Thursday,  Reid stymied Sen.  McConnell’s attempt to bring up an amendment to the FY-09 spending bill that would reauthorize E-Verify for 5 years.

So Reid lied to his constiuents, and has violated his oath of office yet again.

the Obama staffing dog and pony show begins

leave a comment »

If press reports that Rep. Rahm Emanuel will be Obama’s chief of staff are true, we can dispense with the notion that his boss will be a bipartisan uniter. Of course, if Emanuel is a red herring to distract from his real choice of Tom Daschle, it’s a good ploy.  Daschle isn’t tied so closely to the Clintons and was just as much of a ball-buster as Emanuel, but somewhat less foul-mouthed and a bit less combative, having some concept of persuasion instead of automatically resorting to the ear-splitting, profanity-laced rants Emanuel is known for.

In any event, the only comity on display will be that of Republicans.  It will be interesting to see if Obama tries to get the Democratic Senate to the magic number of 60 by plucking off a RINO senator or two for his cabinet.  I can think of several who would happily accept the offer and cheerfully do his bidding in order to think of themselves as players.  They are, after all, politicians, not statesmen.

I do not expect any of them to approach the level of graciousness displayed by President Bush in his speech this morning, congratulating both presidential candidates, and inviting the Obamas for a private White House visit.  Whatever one may think of Bush and his two terms, he has fulfilled his obligations on national security, and he has shown extraordinary forbearance in dealing with the opposition.  The petulance and spitefulness so frequently displayed by Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the Democratic leadership and hostile players has made them look small and petty.

Obama has already shown a willingness to accuse his opponents of racism, and I would be surprised if he saw any reason to stop what has worked so well for him.  He will have plenty of help from the increasingly bizarre intemperance of the Congressional Black Caucus.  Despite the fact that Bush has in place a transition team to assist the president-elect, and will not leave behind the damage and destruction which the Clinton staff did, my guess is that the Obama adminsitration will instantly blame him for its own inevitable mistakes.
