Yellow misery…

leave a comment »

If you live in the South you don’t need a chopper to send up  clouds of pollen.  Your vehicles are covered with it every  morning,  and not even a commercial car wash removes it all.  If you take enough antihistamine to suppress all your symptoms,  your boss will find you out cold on the floor.

Yep —  I love Spring with all the new growth and flowers and such,  but I hate how it makes me feel.  Spare a tad of sympathy for your friends who suffer.

Trees commit hate crime…

Considering the mayor’s rather  unusual hair color,  I find it surprising she appears unable to recognize the yellow stuff on her car as pollen.   Lamar is a small town near Florence,  I used to pass through it often when I lived in South Carolina.   I believe people still volunteer to be mayor and to sit on the City Council.   There is no valid reason for Mayor Darnell Byrd McPherson to think she has been the  victim of a hate crime unless she believes the many pollen-producing plants in Darlington County are after her.  Her complaint that the sheriff’s office didn’t’ take a sample of the yellowish substance covering her car makes me wonder why Her Honor is unable to easily tell the difference between pollen and paint.

Frankly, I don’t remember ever reading about much happening in Lamar.  Perhaps she was seeking to raise her profile.
