No jerky, no China treats…
This is the same song, with a slightly different verse. Don’t buy anything from China, especially if it’s something you mean to feed your family or pets. This time the culprits are chicken, duck, and sweet potato jerky treats, but China is also trying to move into the rawhide processing business. You shouldn’t use the rawhide treats either.
If a company doesn’t tell you the origin of its ingredients, call or email them and find out. If they won’t cooperate, tell them politely that you’re switching to a brand that cares about your dog’s health and telling all your friends. Capitalism gives you a whip hand — use it!
Funeral at Toomer’s Corner…
The iconic oak trees at Toomer’s Corner in Auburn have now been cut down, and will be turned into mementos and sold to fund the scholarship program. As one Auburn grad told me after returning from the final rolling, the trees lost their fight for life, but many people will benefit from the scholarships the trees will help provide.
Ruined by rats…
The scene of one of my favorite childhood books is about to be bombed with poison to get rid of the rats overrunning it. My island of Montecristo is ruined! Wouldn’t it have made more sense to set about a dozen cats loose?
