The Akashinga squad…

That translates as “The Brave Ones” and it refers to Zimbabwe’s first all-female anti-poaching  team,  composed of abused and disadvantaged women.   They’re sharpshooters and they’ve arrested 80 armed poachers in the past year.    They were recruited by Damien Mander,  a former Australian Special Operations soldier.   No,  this isn’t good government at work.  The entire thing is funded b y private donations, and it is working extremely well.  Not only has the enterprise saved these women, it has spared innumerable animals their lives.
