Brent Scowcroft, R. I. P.
I wasn’t a big fan of Brent Scowcroft, but the man had an abundant supply of tenacity, a characteristic I deeply admire, and which I believe remains woefully under-appreciated. He told The Washington Post on the eve of the George H. W. Bush administration, “I don’t have a quick, innovative mind. I don’t automatically think of good, new ideas. What I do better is pick out good ideas from bad ideas.”
Pilot flew through Eiffel Tower…
William Overstreet Jr. died this week. He matters a bit more because he famously flew his P-51C ‘Berlin Express’ beneath the Eiffel Tower in Nazi-occupied Paris in 1944, Oh yeah — he got the enemy he was chasing.
