National Journal to suspend…

David Bradley,  chairman of Atlantic Media,  has told staff that the weekly magazine would move “the whole of its journalism to the higher-velocity work of our daily publications,  National Journal Daily and Hotline,  and to our hour-by-hour coverage on NationalJournal.com.”

I find it unusual that he  blamed himself  for NJ’s failure,  since most CEO’s avoid responsibility for failure,  but I agree that today’s high-paced news cycle greatly diminishes the value of a weekly publication.

National Journal has prepared  an excellent graphic  comparing the compensation of  558 chief executives of trade associations,  labor unions,  interest groups,  think tanks,  and other nonprofits with a significant presence in Washington.   This will help you understand why it is so hard for common sense to prevail there.
