Theory or discovery?

If scientists have correctly identified a Higgs boson particle,  popularly called the God particle,  there are consequences.   This article does a nice job of explaining the theories in layman’s terms.

Of course, the trouble with theoretical science is that it’s just theory until proven,  and no one knows what the unanticipated consequences may be.
