Felony reporting…
From the ever-alert NewsBusters we learn that as of July 1, getting within 65 feet of what the Coast Guard determines are essential recovery efforts will be a Class D felony, punishable by a fine of up to $40,000.

Deepwater Horizon spill…
When even the leftish Guardian notices His Oneness doing heavy public relations work on the oil spill, you know there’s something to it. And Team Obama can’t have been pleased with The Australian’s saying the oil spill was becoming his Katrina.

But ABC’s Jake Tapper has reported that Interior’ s Chief of staff was rafting with his wife in the Grand Canyon while the oil slick spread. That’s the same Interior Department which exempted BP’s Gulf of Mexico drilling from its environmental impact study last year, as reported by the WaPo. BP is working flat out, has managed to cap one leak, and is probably working its engineers to death.
I wonder if Alabama AG Troy King would be barking at BP if he weren’t running for re-election? Trying to get people to agree not to sue your corporation in exchange for money is what a good corporate lawyer should be doing.
