Civil Rights Commission vs. DOJ…

As you know,  the Justice Department had won its case against the Black Panthers for voter intimidation  — but refused to show up.   It has stonewalled the requests of the U.S.  Commission on Civil Rights and recently claimed it could ignore the Commission’s subpoenas.

The Washington Times has an  excellent editorial on the whole matter and the current status.

Delay brings justice…

It’s hardly a secret that the Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department is the territory of liberal activists.     Andy McCarthy does a fine job,  here, on their hypocrisy in wanting to investigate Bush lawyers’ torture analysis one day,  then citing it favorably the next day in a  current case.

But the icing on the cake comes from Legalities,  Jan Crawford Greenburg’s  blog,  in which she reveals that the activists’  plan to refer John Yoo and Jay Bybee to their state bars for disciplinary proceedings has run into a major snag because they’ve missed the deadline  on Yoo.   That matters because Yoo was a primary author,  so it would be senseless to go after Bybee for his much lesser involvement,  parctiularly since the word on the street is that the DoJ investigation will recommend no prosecution of Bush officials.

Of course, there was never any basis for a prosecution of them,   so I have wondered if the entire idea was to simply damage them while tossing red meat to the lefties.    Regardless of the eventual outcome, His Oneness has certainly succeeded in poisoning the well for everyone,  himself included.
