NPR fires Williams…

NPR  has fired pundit Juan Williams,  primarily for agreeing with Bill O’Reilly that political correctness sometimes prevents frank discussions when it comes to Muslim extremists.   Here is a transcript of the bit which gave NPR the excuse Cliff May  says it has been waiting for all these years.   Do read  May’s piece on the walkout on The View.

I’m sorry for Juan Williams,  but at least I no longer have the slightest reason to pay any attention to NPR,  since I found Williams very liberal and therefore frequently wrong,  but he was honest and made an obvious effort to be fair.   Every so often he would actually think logically instead of emotionally,  employing reason instead of rhetoric,  which liberal and left institutions can not allow.

My next thought was to wonder if the new George  Soros grant to NPR to purchase reporters had anything to do with the firing.   It would be in keeping with the Soros style to demand ideological purity within NPR so that his new crop of political reporters withstand no internal scrutiny.

Bill Moyers is  only one of NPR’s finest whose job wasn’t jeopardized by saying something actually outrageous — that the GOP was like the Taliban –, and Nina Totenberg is yet to suffer even a mild reprimand for  wishing AIDS on  Sen.  Jesse Helms.    The upside is that no one can any longer deny NPR’s bias with a straight face, and that some are already  calling for defunding NPR,  which should have happened decades ago.

We now know that a  complaint from C.A.I.R. to NPR started the termination ball rolling.

UPDATE:   NPR is obviously getting some blowback,  or the CEO wouldn’t  be issuing a fake apology now.  Will FOX News regular Mara Liasson,  who has already been taken to the woodshed,  be the next to have her contract terminated?
