ObamaCare sickens…
I am second to no one in my dislike of Barney Frank, not because of his lifestyle, but because he is arrogant and intelligent while being wrong on nearly everything. I don’t for an instant believe he’d refuse to go along with whatever leadership can devise to pass ObamaCare, but the mere fact that he has said this is astonishing.
Philip Klein also doesn’t think the health reform bill is completely dead, but qualifies only for life support at this stage.
The Boston Herald has a nice wrap-up, but I wouldn’t bet that Democrats have actually gotten the message yet, as evidenced by the response of Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee chair, Rep. Chris Van Hollen.
Perhaps they should read Michael Barone’s piece for enlightenment, since so many of them appear to have landed in the state of denial.
UPDATE: Barney Frank, as I predicted, has done a flip-flop in less than 24 hours, n ow saying he could support the Senate bill and the so-called nuclear option.
Fiscal genius…not!
I see Obama is taking credit for having “rescued” the economy. No mention that he and Frank, Dodd and ACORN were largely responsible for the fiscal mess.
Freddie Mac investigations
The Feds are now probing Freddie Mac, partly about whether the company properly disclosed the risks associated with mortgage-related investments. The apparent suicide of its chief financial officer has put this story on the Washington Post.
Politico.com is reporting that the CFO, David Kellermann, had recently been involved in a heated dispute with Freddie’s regulator over how to reflect the costs of Obama’s anti-foreclosure program.
I think it’s safe to assume that His Oneness, along with Barney Frank and Chris Dodd, would prefer for the whole matter to disappear swiftly down the memory hole, before anyone becomes so impertinent as to dare ask a few awkward questions.
Obama and Frank’s agenda
For any sentient being still believing Obama won’t gut the military and secure defeat in Iraq, read Rep. Barney Frank’s honest statement of intent to cut the military budget by 25%, forcing it to leave Iraq, then raise taxes:
Frank knows a Congress with increased Democratic majorities will join him on his quest, and that a Pres. Obama would instantly sign such legislation.
If we are so unfortunate as to have a Pres. Obama, I can confidently predict that military re-ups will plummet, just as they did under Slick Willie, and for many of the same reasons. And we will also see an exodus of Secret Service agents from the presidential detail. And who could blame them?
