NOLA levees sinking…

New Orleans haas no high ground, just a bit that is higher than the rest of it.  Why did they rebuild the levees to protect the Ninth Ward?  It and several other areas should have been left outside the zone.   They were largely uninhabited  after Hurricane Katrina anyway.  The soil in the area makes crunchy peanut butter seem tough.   The whole place is a sloppy mess,  but the idiots who run the federal government spent $14 billion putting all  the barriers in,  finishing the last of the work less than a year ago.   And now the Army Corps of Engineers tells us that the whole damned system is failing even faster than expected.   Gee,  I am so surprised…
