Happy Flag Day 2017…
It was yesterday, but it’s not too late to understand and honor it. Besides, one of my favorite cousins used to have a Flag Day party with burgers and chicken on the grill, beer int he coolers, and loads of potato salad, plus delicious pies decorated with blueberries and strawberries and whipped cream to look like the American flag.
George Washington was prescient, as it appears some of us are still trying to decide whether we should even be a nation.
Mine’s flying…
It’s Flag Day. My Stars and Stripes is waving gently in a slight, fitful breeze. Is yours? If you don’t have a flag pole, wear a pin or put a sticker on your shirt. It’s still my flag. Is it still yours? Does it mean anything to you?
Whose Flag Day?
Flag Day was June 14th. The RNC released what I think of as a conventional tweet, with a shot of soldiers sky-diving with an actual American Flag. Its Democratic counterpart also released a photo of an adorable child, nearly obscured by some vaguely patriotic-themed fabric. Let’s hope the Democrats continue with similar fails that a lot of people will see.
