Happy Flag Day 2017…

It was yesterday,  but it’s not too late  to understand  and honor it.   Besides,  one of my favorite cousins used to have a Flag Day party with burgers and chicken on the grill,  beer  int he coolers,  and loads of potato salad,  plus delicious pies decorated with blueberries and strawberries and whipped cream to look like the American flag.

George Washington was prescient,  as it appears some of us are still trying to decide whether we should even be  a nation.

Mine’s flying…

It’s Flag Day.   My Stars and Stripes is waving gently in a slight,  fitful breeze.   Is yours?   If you don’t have a flag pole,  wear a pin or put a sticker on your shirt.   It’s still my flag.   Is it still yours?   Does it mean anything to you?

Whose Flag Day?

Flag Day was June 14th.   The RNC released what I think of as a conventional tweet,  with a shot of soldiers sky-diving with an actual American Flag.   Its Democratic counterpart  also released  a photo of an adorable child,  nearly obscured by some vaguely patriotic-themed fabric.   Let’s hope the Democrats continue with similar fails that a lot of people will see.

Flag Day 2011…

My flags are out,  but I had forgotten it was Flag Day.   Leon and Amy Kass  explain what  it means.

Will you be surprised that Google chose to ignore the day,  while Bing celebrated it?
