What Obama doesn’t know…
Ian Murray at OpenMarket.org has a wonderful piece up on Obama’s inaugural speech, pointing out that His Oneness doesn’t understand infrastructure, energy, or markets:

I think Murray is right, and furthermore, I don’t think Obama cares. I don’t even see his goal to be helping the economy, His Oneness has a much different agenda in my view.
Scientific Obama…
Obama is announcing his energy and environmental picks, and proclaiming that “my administration will value science, and decisions will be based on facts.” If that were true, he wouldn’t be talking about climate change, would he?
Obama said that national security is linked to energy, and we have an addiction to foreign oil. Both true, yet neither he nor anyone he has chosen has any interest in maintaining, let alone increasing, domestic production of oil and gas.
No, His Oneness is going to bring us new forms of energy and a “new hybrid economy… with millions of jobs building winds farms, solar panels…” He apparently doesn’t know that your average line worker in Detroit has none of the skills required for those jobs.
“The solution to global climate change must be global.” Well, yeah, if you’re really going to do anything. He mentioned that Sen. John Kerry had reported to him on the current climate conference abroad, but failed to include that most of the European Union said any Kyoto II would wreck their economies for decades.
Indeed, he has put together “a team of people uniquely suited… leading experts and accomplished managers” — too bad only one of them knows anything about science, and his expertise is in alternative energy.
For such an intelligent man, Obama seems to understand little about science or history.
Obama’s spending spree
The DC Examiner editorial lays out some of Obama’s spending wish list:

I especially like Obama’s own Global Poverty Act that would commit $845 billion in new foreign aid through 2015, by handing over your money to the United Nations.
Obama has another bill, safely hidden in committee at present, which would PROHIBIT the federal government from using 3-D and 4-D technology to estimate our oil and gas reserves. You think he’s protecting the public from same untested, worthless method? Not exactly. He wants to force the feds to use the same technology which the oil and gas producers used many years ago, and brought in about 1 well out of every 10 drilled in a good year. The 3-D technology allows them to bring in 5 wells for every 10, and the newest, 4-D, brings in 7 out of 10.
Obama doesn’t want you to know the true extent of our domestic reserves, lest you accuse him of being a bald-faced liar for saying we have “only 3% of the world’s reserves, but use 25% of them.” The 3% figure omits the Bakken fields, the Artic National Wildlife Reserve, all of the shale oil in the West, coastal Alaska — well, you get the idea.
And despite his claim to love clean coal technology, he has no intention of actually allowing it to be used, so Joe Biden was actually right about that. We have the world’s largest coal reserves, and haven’t once done what the Germans did for years – remove entire towns in order to mine the coal beneath them.
