Dem convention Day 2…
John Podhoretz characterized the first night of the convention as low energy, and that when you remove the live people you divorce the proceedings of any real meaning. He wrote another piece listing some of the oldsters and has-beens and losers on display. You know it’s a hideously dull event when the roll call of states becomes entertaining
If all you do is talk about the past, I can’t imagine how you excite voters for the future you haven’t yet promised to bring them. For the second night’s observation Michael Goodwin references Sir Winston Churchill’s line: “Take this pudding away — it has no theme!” And again, Dems refused to give us their plans. Perhaps they have none? A sour soup of lies is insufficient. Start with John Kerry and Iran, then move on to Bill Clinton and fat Al Gore.
And please don’t get me started on the production values of this mess. I realize not everyone has the same quality of equipment or expertise, but the cutbacks are choppy and clumsy, and that doesn’t even include the canned applause.
The only thing approaching a plan is what a panelist said — namely that “we all want the destruction of capitalism.” Do you believe she actually understands what she is proposing?
