Rare calm…
Even if you’re not particularly interested in weather and climate, this photograph showing no storm activity above the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans is quite unusual. Perhaps Mother Nature was taking a pause, or maybe she thought dumping over a foot of rain on Colorado was sufficient.
Titanic moon…
It seems that Edward Smith, the captain of the Titanic, may have had good reason to think any icebergs in his path were insignificant and no cause for concern. Ah, science.
An inconvenient truth…
We now have a UN IPCC official admitting they mean to redistribute the wealth of the world via climate policy. What Edenhofer didn’t admit was that the UN is expecting to steal a chunk of the wealth as it passes by its open maw, or that he and the other alarmists are positioned to vastly improve their personal fortunes as well.
This isn’t a conspiracy theory, it’s an actual conspiracy, and it’s unfolding right in front of your nose.
In more promising news, the Chicago Climate Exchange has collapsed. It would have been worth its $7 high had Al Gore become president, but now it’s not worth its current 5 cents a share. Kim Strassel is right that the GOP is missing an opportunity to save money by stopping the job-killing green subsidies, such as in North Carolina.
The fraudsters are fighting back, and promising action against the U.S. if we don’t stay on the climate train, assisted by His Oneness, who is awarding a Presidential Medal of Freedom to John Adams, founder of the virulently anti-business and anti-energy Natural Resources Defense Council.
Much better to listen to Bjorn Lomborg, who has a spot-on new film out showing much more useful ways to help mankind at a fraction of the cost, though it’s more fun to read James Delingpole’s withering piece on the watermelons.
Table turning…
Greenpeace gets a bloody nose! Ah, it’s sweet when the tables are so cleverly and creatively turned on the hypocritical and self-righteous.
Send a climate message…
Send the Danish government your own message about the climate conference.
Gore backs out, not down…
Why has Al Gore suddenly canceled his $1,029 a head personal appearance in Copenhagen? It can’t be because of ClimateGate, because he’s already complaining that the climate conference won’t do enough to save the planet he pretends to be so worried about while flying around the world on private jets.
Fish funeral…
Wait a few more hours and someone will blame this on global warming — no , no, it’s climate change now, isn’t it? They have to cover all temperature variations, you know, because stupid old Earth has stubbornly refused to get any warmer since 1998.
An inconvenient question…
Since His Oneness mentioned global warming in accepting the Nobel Peace Prize, you should know that environmental journalists, like most liberal journalists, represent and work for their ideology first, and their “profession” a distance second.
Watch what happens when someone asks a question about the UK court-adjudicated major errors in Al Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” — the environmental journalists cut off the questioner’s mike! Real journalists would have covered this or even this.
The man who inquires is Phelim McAleer, who has a new documentary, “Not Evil Just Wrong” , coming out. I am inclined to see those pushing global warming/climate change hysterics as not merely wrong, but evil, as their goals are monetary gain, and power and control. They don’t give a damn about the earth, and certainly not about the people who inhabit it, particularly we Americans who stand as ever more irritating obstacles to global governance and control.
If Al Gore or Barack Obama actually thought the earth were coming to an end, they would be speaking about it constantly. Al Gore rarely does any sort of press conference, and has evaded every opportunity for the debate which he claims is over. Why? Because he would get his head handed to him. I suspect the very mention of the names of Michael Coren, Chris Horner and Lord Monckton makes the Gore sweat machine kick into warp drive. In case you don’t remember, Christopher Monckton was supposed to testify alongside Al Gore at an April Congressional hearing, but the Democrats refused to allow him to appear, knowing he would destroy not only His Goreness, but also put paid to their cap and trade schemes.
UPDATE: The Wall Street Journal weighs in here.
Cap-and-trade in the House…
The excerable Waxman-Markey bill narrowly passed the House, and provided some moments of levity. Waxman added 300 pages at 3 AM Friday, so there was no complete bill, just piles of pages with people trying to stuff the amendments into the proper places. It still wasn’t up on THOMAS when I last checked. So we have yet another “bill” passed unread by anyone. That is the modus operandi of the Democrats, and of Obama, because they are aware the more people know about such bills, the more they find to object to. They will attempt to do the same thing to the Obamacare health plan, so be forewarned.
Here is Speaker Pelosi’s victory announcement. The 8 Republicans who provided the margin of victory should be taken to the woodshed. Yes, I realize 8 of the 44 Democrats allowed to take political cover by voting “No” might have switched, but these Republicans made it easy for them and should hear about it.
One must never underestimate the overall stupidity or particular ignorance of politicians, or their cupidity, just as one must seldom accuse them of an overabundance of courage or honesty.
Prime example: The number of pols nattering on about the cloud of CO2 atop our atmosphere. The problem is that CO2 is 1.5 times denser than air, so it tends to go down, not up. Think of the poisonous lakes in Africa which occasionally belch — ever hear of the CO2 and methane galloping uphill to kill a village? Of course not, but that simple logic is beyond most Congress critters.
You must understand the corruption of the Obama administration and the EPA. First, the EPA must declare CO2 a dangerous pollutant in order to regulate it. This required the EPA to ignore its own researcher’s inconvenient report on greenhouse gases — thank the Competitive Enterprise Institute for unearthing the emails showing not only EPA censorship, but also the lies uttered to protect its preordained conclusion.
The wheels are about to come off of the global warming/climate change stampede, and in a big way, but we can’t depend on truth and facts to carry the day. Start insisting your Senators do the correct thing and the smart thing by stopping this unconstitutional taxing scheme.
Global warming debate…
If you want to see an excellent debate between William Schlesinger and John Christy on global warming, the John Locke organization has the video here. It’s 75 minutes long, but worth your time.
Much shorter is a letter from the former supervisor of NASA warming hysteric James Hansen — it’s a gorgeous smackdown.
Continuing in the same vein, Dr. Tim Ball whacks the $400 million for climate research in the porkulus bill.
