This is real?
Apparently so, though you’d think a candidate who lives in Colorado would be sufficiently aware of guns to realize that the average pepper spray’s maximum effectiveness range runs about 10 feet, meaning you’d be dead long before you got close enough to a shooter’s eyes to do any damage. The average short-barreled pistol is most accurate at 10 to 12 feet, but a shooter is not going to wait for you to close the distance. Of course, if you’re a decent shot and in practice, your effective range would be at least twice as far. And yes, you and your children can thank the Lord that he is a Democrat!
Taxing choices…
This handy calculator shows you how each presidential candidate’s tax plan will affect you, courtesy of the Tax Policy Center.
TPC greatly simplified the process to consider only the biggest factors (income, marital status, children), and looked at the four taxes with the largest impact (individual and corporate income taxes, payroll taxes, excise taxes), but the idea is sound.
South Carolina, are you listening?
I don’t agree with the conclusions Sundance reached in this piece, but he lays out the record of failures clearly enough. I want a grown-up in the White House, and I’m no fan of Donald Trump, but I’d prefer him to either Hillary or Bernie, primarily because he’d do less damage, recognizing that there are, somewhere, limits.
I would have liked to have Jim Gilmore or Carly Fiorina at the helm of the ship of state, but i could settle for Ted Cruz, even Marco Rubio, because they are actually conservatives and have some principles to stand upon instead of eternally shifting sands.
20 questions…
Wouldn’t you just love for someone to ask these questions of Democratic primary candidates next year? Hell, ask all candidates!
Vote Smart…
That’s the name of a website which claims to be strictly non-partisan as it compiles the views and votes of candidates. I used it briefly myself on a couple of candidates I have researched, and it seems straightforward. You may find it useful.
Leaving Iraq…
As usual, the Obama Administration is trying to claim that its screw-up is actually the President keeping a campaign promise. Read all the links in John Tabin’s post on how His Oneness bungled the deal, but especially Josh Rogin’s.
Republican candidates offer their take on the withdrawal.
