The wave rolls over us…
I just watched His Oneness sign the porkulus bill with an enormously self-satisfied smirk on his face. His prefacing remarks were pure campaign rhetoric.
And the market is down another 256 points at the momentum, which means it still doesn’t like the plan.
And it doesn’t like it for very simple reasons — Obama has spent so much time talking down the economy; every action he has taken to date has made employment more difficult (think Ledbetter Act and his wet kisses to the labor unions); the market has concluded Geithner doesn’t know what he’s doing; the market is realizing that none of this fixes the original problems.
Of course my contention has always been that the stimulus is about government control, not the economy. Sometimes I hate being right.
And on top of this, Sen. Burris, who now occupies Obama’s hardly-warmed Senate seat, has admitted he tried to raise money for former Gov. Blago, after denying categorically he had done so in the supplemental affidavit he filed with an Illinois Senate Democrat after his original testimony during Blago’s impeachment. Gee, a career politician from Chicago has lied — I’m shocked, SHOCKED!
Do you think it might possibly begin to occur to people that another career politician sits in the White House with the thermostat cranked up to 80 degrees? As a Special Forces friend put it, “You need the heat if you”re cold-blooded, don’t you?”
