John Lewis, R.I.P.

Rep. John Lewis (D-GA),  80,  passed away  late Friday night after a battle with late-stage pancreatic cancer.    President Trump and  other leaders  expressed their condolences.   In case you wondered,  here is  what could happen to that seat.

What nobody mentions is my prime question:  Lewis was beaten by Jim Crow proponents and KKK members.  All of the former  and many of the latter were Democrats.   Why did Lewis become a member of the  party responsible  for his injuries?    How could he find common cause with any of them?   That has never made any sense to me and now it never will.   Regardless,  there are few people I would wish the scourge of cancer on,  and Mr. Lewis was not one of them.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Red over yellow…

The yellow BLACK LIVES MATTER street mural outside of Trump Tower  was  “vandalized”   with red paint Monday afternoon.   Mayor De Blasio and his less-than-lovely wife drew some boos when they joined in painting the mural.  Was the red paint symbolic of the Marxist/communist views of Black Lives Matter,  or was that just the paint color the guy had?   The NYPD shut down that area of the street while city crews restored the mural by painting over the red splotches.   Police are looking for the guy and investigating the matter as an act of criminal mischief.    I’m confused — wasn’t the original job by the mayor vandalism itself?   Oh, wait,  the mayor approved…
