Ice guess…

Alaska is one of only five U.S. states which does not have a state lottery.  It also doesn’t allow slot machines or betting on most things,  ranging from scratch-off tickets to horses.    If you think that  means no  betting –  HA!!   Alaskans and visitors eagerly pay $2.50 a ticket to bet on when the breakup of the ice on the Tanana River occurs.  A group of gods watches the peculiar,  but creative,  tripod arrangement to see the exact minute it happens.   Don’t laugh — the one who gets closest to the actual minute may win a six-figure check!
