Be glad…
…you aren’t in France, where the labor unions are on strike and don’t care about Pres. Macron’s pleas for an end to the strike, which began December 5th, and which has paralyzed transportation in France and made it impossible for many travelers to return home for Christmas.
Many years ago i was in France when the electrical workers went out on strike. Hospitals and such had power, but restaurants and most other businesses had only 12 hours a day to get things done. I ate a lot of cold roast chicken, which was absolutely delicious since it had been prepared to be served cold. Ditto for the steamed asparagus. The strike was rather inconvenient, but I ate quite well, and thought it was a rather civilized method of conducting strikes. It doesn’t work so well now,k as the strikers seem hell-bent on causing as much misery as possible.
UPDATE: Even the ballet corps is supporting the unions striking against the government’s pension plans. Whatever their faults, the French can display class, n’est-ce pas?
