Toys were us…
I thought Geoffrey the Giraffe was a fine mascot for Toys “R” Us, and the shot of him in an empty store with a suitcase is rather poignant. But the chain was never properly managed or marketed. The owners apparently assumed that having shelves full of toys was sufficient, and for a while it was, but eventually lousy customer service and indifferent employees killed a creative notion.
If the company had thought about marketing as hard as they did in engineering the parting photo, they would still be in business.
