Hawaii alarm…
Some pluperfect numbskull hit the wrong button and scared Hawaiians half to death with a false message on the Emergency Alert System that a missile was incoming. The FCC is investigating the wireless emergency alert, but the real question will be whether that extremely blue state will actually be moved to fire the personal responsible. The answer is that the twit will be “retrained”, which may not help since he apparently did not realize what he had done until the false message was received on his own phone. Perhaps a little retraining of the system itself might be in order.
Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard is outraged but still found time to try to blame Pres. Trump for the incident. She seems not to have noticed that his firm stance to North Korea has resulted in the NoKos deciding to talk with their South Korean counterparts for the first time in years.
One of Obama’s former officials sent the usual snarky tweet about Pres. Trump. It must be very depressing to realize that the progressive idol who employed you not only had feet of clay, but also got nearly everything wrong.
But this civil defense farce has shown us one thing, as so exquisitely displayed by the tweets of New York Times editor Max Fisher “because Donald Trump has created an atmosphere where nuclear war can take place at any time” we are all in immediate peril.
UPDATE: The unaware worker has now been “reassigned” to other duties, and a “Cancel” button has been added to undo future mistakes. The latter does not give me much confidence in Hawaii’s Civil Defense system, especially as no one there seemed smart enough to know they could call the military and discern in seconds whether there was anything in the air. I can understand why ordinary civilians might not know that, but if you work for a state government emergency management agency and don’t, your training was insufficient.
