Michelle the belle…
The fashion industry calls her a style icon with substance, and coos over her new hairstyle, but no woman whose skirts, dresses and slacks ride up across her thighs is well dressed. Are designers and staff so terrified of Our Lady of Perpetual Dissatisfaction that they are afraid to point out this major flaw?
Some of her outfits are indeed striking, but others are more suitable for a teenager, and Mrs. Obama, despite her famously toned arms, does not have the body shape for wearing some of her outfits to proper advantage.
Ever faithful…
Rescued dogs are always grateful for those who give them a safe, secure home. I’m not sure BG would go this far for me, but I do know she is a happy, loyal girl who would defend me. Since she is nearly 100 pounds, extremely athletic, and has perfect teeth, I’m confident she would do a fine job. I am fortunate to have a few people who would try just as hard. I hope you are that lucky, too.
If you have the time and the talent, please volunteer at your local shelter, especially if it’s no-kill. Dog people can tell you which ones know they are dogs, and which ones are fur people who can be returned to canine sensibility. BG was returned to her shelter several times before I got her, simply because those who adopted her didn’t know how to handle a large, energetic dog who had great self-confidence from living in the wild, and was smart enough to learn that bullying behavior was the cheapest way to get what she wanted. Most of them were afraid of her. I never have been, because I knew what her behavior was based on. She can still be a handful when she’s excited, but as she has matured, she contains it better, though I do have to warn visitors that if she likes you, she’s liable to run between your legs to get full body contact.
Rescue something, if you can afford it. If you know someone with pets they can’t really afford, help them out with a bag of food, some cash for vaccinations — whatever you can do, because it’s always better for a pet to stay with its family.
