Time for Thorns 
I did an article on this subject just today on http://revisedhistory.wordpress.com that you might find helpful. Walter Kennedy and I, in our book “Lincoln’s Marxists” took note of the early foundations of public education in America. The research shows that public schools in this country were founded and promoted by Unitarians and socialists as a reaction against church schools–not a real great foundation.

Just posted a new article on http://revisedhistory.wordpress.com about how crazy socialists are about the public school system. Their websites display their love for public schools and decry any criticism of them. The socialists hate home schooling, private schools, especially religious ones, and anything that will free children from the yoke of public education they are opposed to.
