Obama as Lincoln…

The New York Post is reporting the  Obama inauguration will be loaded with Lincoln themes, down to the food:

It strikes me as theater over substance, but ironically appropriate, since Honest Abe was anything but, and did incredible damage to the Constitution.   There’s scant evidence Lincoln was interested in the plight of slaves, since he emancipated only those in the South, hoping  they would turn against their owners.

Ole Abe was quite keen on keeping the South in the same position as the Colonies originally had under British rule — agrarian, non-industrial supplier of cheap materials to the North, which could process them and sell them at much higher prices.
