Spa House…
Yes, it does have spectacular views and luxurious appointments, and has received several prestigious awards for architectural design, and it might be enjoyable to rent for a week or two, but you could not pay me enough to actually live in it. I can appreciate the design qualities which make it such a star, but I find it really ugly, only a few steps up from the old Soviet architecture.
Stolen house…
Not a mobile home on wheels, mind you, but a 1,200 square foot house last seen sitting on its foundation in a rural area of Klamath County, Oregon. Did a thief just come along and disassemble the building? Color me perplexed.
A Lego house…
It’s not made from actual Lego blocks, but from 3-D printed blocks, each of which took a week to print, slotted together to form a house.
House tees up health votes…
Roll your eyes if you wish, but two of the planned votes are particularly interesting: one focusing on religious exemptions, the second on the so-called “doc fix” which is set to expire soon. Grace-Marie Turner lays it out succinctly here.
Bye-bye, Jim…
The news that James Moran is retiring is very welcome to me. In the sea of ill-tempered, viscous liars of the Democratic party, he is a standout, having represented the affluent, liberal-leaning suburbs hugging the Potomac River since 1990. Despite his claims about retirement, the truth is that he knows his party will not be taking back the House, and he probably suspects it will lose the Senate as well.
Have a look back at some of his most noted outbursts as you join me in hoping the door hits his fanny on his way out. I hope many more of his Democratic colleagues make the same decision.
UPDATE: Have some more of Moran’s bad actions.
Good political news?
Two good political analysts find it more likely that Democrats will lose the Senate than that they will retake the House. I certainly hope they’re correct.
Rs keep House…
The one thing we do know now is that Democrats can’t win the 25 seats they needed to take control of the House of Representatives.
A retirement to celebrate…
New York Rep. Maurice Hinchey won’t be running for another term. This doesn’t bode well for Nancy Pelosi’s insistence that Democrats will take the House back. I seriously doubt that Hinchey would be retiring if he thought there was the slightest chance his party would control the House next term.
Rules? What rules?
Speaker Pelosi has now granted her party in the House blanket authority to circumvent the standard rules process and expedite floor votes through December 18th.
A dying rattlesnake is still very dangerous…
And speaking of changing the rules, read about how corrupt labor unions and a corrupt Obama Administration, having rigged the rules, are now changing them to benefit the labor unions with regard to the Delta/Northwest merger.
Congress at work….
The House may adjourn by the end of the week, according to this Politico report, which would be a week earlier than planned. This tells you how absolutely panic-stricken Democrats are. It remains to be seen whether republicans are properly prepared for the tricks certain to ensue.
