Bastille Day attack…

leave a comment »

This time,  terror struck  in Nice instead of Paris,  but a truck ploughed through celebrating pedestrians for a mile before coming to a halt,  killing at least 80 people.   French police shot the driver dead.   Could this happen here?  It certainly could.   If you’ll recall,  a man ran over college students on a campus a year or so ago.   I can’t wait to see how His Oneness downplays this one.  Oh, wait  –  he  has condemned  what “appears to be”  a terrorist attack.

There was panic in Paris at the same time, but  the flames  around the Eiffel Tower were from the fireworks celebration.

By the way,  a jihadist magazine  called for  a truck attack back in 2010.

Bill Clinton on Orlando…

leave a comment »

I didn’t go searching for any pix of Bubba blasting something with a gun to see if he looked as out of his depth as His Oneness,  but he apparently is not the smartest man in the room any longer.   His contention that if patrons in the Orlando nightclub had been armed,  more people  would have died is laughable,  but if everyone had simply thrown their drinks at the shooter,  more of them would have lived.  If the first twenty people had simply rushed Mateen after tossing their drinks at his head,  some of them would have died,  but fewer than did actually die by hiding and screaming.

Like every other liberal,  the former president assumes that civilians with guns are ill-prepared lunatics who fire wildly at anything which moves.   The truth is that the average gun owner is less likely to have a “bad shoot” than is someone in law enforcement.   The ordinary gun owner uses his weapon in a defensive posture,  not an offensive one,  and that considered, judicious application of appropriate force stops and prevents harm thousands and thousands of times a year in the USA.   The only reason to attempt to disarm citizens is to make them subjects.  The Founders intended that we never be subjects again,  and gave us the tools to prevent it,  if we can summon the backbone and fortitude to use them.

A single bartender with a sidearm could have stopped Mateen in less than a minute.   Don’t you think the families and friends of the 49 dead at Orlando would have preferred that outcome?

Zombie firewall…

If you’re a fan of Jonah Goldberg,  you are aware of his fondness for zombies.   If you aren’t,  read this  and be vastly entertained.   For what it’s worth,  I quite agree with him about the lack of creativity shown in task-specific weaponry.

What we don’t know…

…about the Iran deal will eventually come out into the light.   Here’s the first piece,  brought to us by the Times of Israel,  which is that His Oneness freed a top Iranian scientist before the Geneva talks.   God only knows what else was given away in exchange for nothing by this foolish,  dangerously inept president and his foreign policy group,  none of whom could negotiate their way out of a wet paper bag with instructions printed on the inside.

I am still crawling through the  150+ pages  of the deal,  which is couched in archaic diplomatic doublespeak,  but so far it looks even worse than I feared.   Feel free to read for yourself how the free world has been betrayed by Obama and Kerry and Company.   At this point,  you may safely assume that anything the Administration claims as a benefit is not true,  and that we will be subjected to a never-ending litany of lies about it.   The fact that the  U.N. has  approved the agreement should warn you not only how bad it is,  but also what a lawless and dishonest president Barack Obama is.

Meanwhile,  four Americans languish in Iranian prisons,  assuming they are all still alive,  which I very much doubt.   Iran now has the Obama seal of approval for its nuclear ambitions,  and is quite likely to soon have the ability to launch a nuclear package,  assuming its sending a monkey into space  in 2013  doesn’t mean that it already has a sufficient delivery system.

Winston Churchill said that  “Diplomacy is the art of telling people to go to hell in such a way that they ask for directions.”   Under the Obama regime,  it reads  “Diplomacy is the art of sending yourself to hell and thanking your opponents for the ticket.”

Machine gun tourism…

leave a comment »

The Gun Store in Las Vegas didn’t start out to become  a tourist  draw,  but it has become one.   It seems people of all stripes are curious about automatic fire weapons.   The store now has five competitors,  so a lot of people must like the feeling.

6th-grade sense…

leave a comment »

Do  watch this exchange  between the young colt Sen. Ted Cruz and the old liberal warhorse Sen. Dianne Feinstein,  who proved she comprehends  neither the Constitution  nor her job.   Jay Nordlinger makes the  point especially  well.   Democrats were particularly outraged that Cruz didn’t show the slavish deference to seniority which they depend upon,  but after whining about it,  Majority Leader Harry  Reid will bury  this unconstitutional and insane piece of legislation under his desk so his red state senators won’t have to vote on it.

For the record, Cruz was perfectly polite in asking the question Feinstein had no intention of answering.   Here are some of the other things I’d like her to answer.   She got one assault weapons ban passed and in ten years it had no discernible effect,  so why does she imagine this one would do any better?   How can she claim that it is legal to hunt humans with high-capacity weapons,  an error no first-grader would make?   How can she remain so ignorant about weapons that she believes any weapon which looks scary to her should be banned?  How can she not know that a military-style weapon generally means a fully automatic weapon,  not a semi-automatic one?   How can she be so stupid as to believe that a 10-round clip or magazine  will save countless lives?   I know people who can shoot five 7-round clips through a pistol in less than a minute and hit the target with every shot.

It is not a question of how many  or what type of weapons We the People need.   It is a question that we are entitled to have what we consider reasonable.  There are many fully automatic weapons in the hands of private citizens,  yet I have found no instance of them being used to commit a crime.   Sen. Feinstein and His Petulant Oneness share the belief that no private citizen should have any firearm.   The entire purpose of the Second Amendment was not to facilitate hunting and recreation,  but to ensure that citizens could defend themselves from their government.   Having just suffered through a war,  the Founding Fathers certainly did not intend for future citizens to use slingshots against cannon.

C.I.A. vs Syria…

leave a comment »

It seems to have just now  occurred to the C.I.A.  that Bashar al-Assad is likely to fall,  putting Syria’s chemical and biological weapons up for grabs.   His Oneness seems to approve of the better-late-than-never modus operandi even when it comes to national security.
