Mr. Kurd…

leave a comment »

That’s how  Pres. Trump called on a Kurdish reporter at his press conference on Wednesday.  The usual clods on social media went into full blown hysterics over such an “insult”,  but the reporter,  Kurdish journalist Rahim Rashidi,  was pleased and delighted with his new moniker for reasons you’ll both understand and appreciate if you follow the link.

The peshmerga must love this…

Kurdish peshmerga troops captured  this video  from these bumbling ISIS troops.   Too bad the fools didn’t all kill themselves.   We are sometimes fortunate in our enemies.

Let them win…

leave a comment »

This is how  willing the Kurds are to fight.  Call the White House and your Congress critters and DEMAND that we deliver modern weaponry,  ammo,  and equipment to the only people willing to fight for themselves.   Let a dozen Green Berets deliver it and stay to help.   There won’t be any difficulty finding volunteers for that project.

It is absolute unconscionable that the Obama Administration refuses to help the true boots on the ground.   The  Kurds are  capable fighters,  even with antiquated weapons,  because they have spent most of their existence fighting for their lives.   They have a history with U.S. Special Forces,  and to a lesser extent with Special Operations.   They trust them because what they say has been proven to not only be true,  but also to work.   All the Kurds want is a small bit of our treasure  — none of our blood,  though they would be happy to have the Green Berets amongst their number,  if only to teach them how to laser targets to make bombing runs more lethal.

I’ve told the White House and the Pentagon and the Joint Chiefs that they all have Kurdish blood on their hands.   What are you going to do?

Obama back to Iraq…

leave a comment »

You can watch the video or read the transcript of Obama’s remarks on Iraq last night,  here.   It was a carefully worded statement,  couched in hazy terms which left him plenty of wiggle room,  and read with little expressiveness.      The most obvious wiggle was  “airstrikes if necessary”  line.  It struck me that this was the first time I could remember hearing him mention the slaughter of Christians,  which has been happening for months.   He also made it clear he still thinks diplomacy is the end game,  and believes that is a strategy.  It  is not.   You don’t negotiate with terrorists and extremists.   You kill as many of them as possible,  as quickly as possible.    This man has consistently turned a blind eye to whatever he does not wish to deal with.   He is perpetually surprised when reality rears its ugly head in the world his ideology reconstructs daily.   How could the group he so sneeringly referred to  as junior  varsity have grown to this monster while he was busy not looking?

John Podhoretz  reminds us  how we got here.  I think it’s true that His Oneness,  if he thought about it at all,  figured the Peshmerga,  the Kurdish military force,  along with other local militias,  would  be sufficient  to keep ISIS in check,  even though he has consistently refused to supply them with ammunition,  weapons and specifically useful items such as night-vision goggles.

I give the President credit for dropping  humanitarian supplies  to the Yazhidis trapped on Mt. Sinjar,  but only enough for 8,000,  when there are about four times as many there.   Defense Secretary claimed that the drop was successful,  with 60 of 72 packets reaching the target,  so under his watch a failure rate exceeding 10% is good.   For a couple of bucks, GPS drivers could have steered the pods to locations could have set them all down within an area the size of a football field.

Lest you think His Oneness has finally caught on,  or some version of better late than never,  kindly note neither the food and water drop nor the  few bombs  delivered to ISIS are named.   The military always names its operations,  unless the commander-in-chief forbids it.   Think about how much more successful the Kurds would be if properly armed.   Why aren’t we delivering these tough fighters what they need?   Consider how many ISIS fighters could have been killed if he had used our air power months ago when they were traveling in large convoys,  and massing in the open.   Contemplate what might have happened if he had done the smart thing to begin with,  years ago.

From across the pond,  a Brit reminds us that America is still needed as the  world’s policeman.   Too bad the American president has his hands over his eyes and fingers stuck in his ears.

Help the Kurds, help us all…

leave a comment »

The Obama Administration  is rejecting  Kurdish pleas  for assistance  in fighting against ISIS.   This is stupid beyond belief.   The Kurds not only know how to fight,  they will fight.   After all,  they have been occupied,  run over and mistreated by conquerors for thousands of years.   The Kurdish region is now the haven of Christians fleeing the rest of Iraq.   Despite the best efforts of His Oneness and his gormless group,  the Kurds actually like Americans,  as many of them have crossed paths with U.S. Army Green Berets,  and even fought beside them.   Our history is complicated to being with, but His Oneness and the sheer stupidity of the  State Department  are dismissing the last chance to blunt ISIS in Iraq.

One would almost think His Oneness doesn’t want to win.   Oh, wait —  this is the man who refused to win two wars.   Why would he risk backing a group which actually wants to win?

No more Mass in Mosul…

leave a comment »

For the first time in a  thousand years  no Mass was said in public in Mosul last week, having been driven underground by ISIS.   Many thousands of Christians have fled,  faced with a choice of an unaffordable tax,  conversion,  or death.   Many have gone to areas controlled by the Kurds,  who have no problem with other religions and were fully cognizant that most of the Special Operations Forces they came into contact with were Christian.

If you think Christianity is not under attack across the world,  consider that hardly any Western country has denounced the Islamists’ anti-Christian actions,  certainly not His Oneness,  who is more interested in trying to prevent Israel from cleaning out the sewer Hamas has made of Gaza than in protecting those not adherents to Islam.

Iraq’s new government…

Yeah,  they finally have one,  of sorts,  and His Oneness isn’t particularly happy about the selection,  but Michael Rubin provides the clearest information I have found about  what it means.
