Christie lit it up…

Gov. Chris Christie gave the best convention address I’ve ever heard.  If you didn’t watch it live, you missed a treat,  but you can read  the text here,  courtesy of The Drudge Report.   It was a big-ball speech,  a serious one full of challenge and opportunity.

Former Rep. Arthur Davis gave  another significant  speech,  in which he laid bare the failures of His Oneness,  and candidate Mia Love  richly deserved  the applause she received.

You might also enjoy Lt. Governor candidate Sher Valenzuel’s speech,  here,  and Gov. Scott Walker’s,  here,  and certainly candidate Ted Cruz’s,  here.

This site has  videos of all the speeches.  (h/t Lucianne.com)

Telling the truth…

One more reason to love Gov. Chris Christie  —  he pays the citizens of New Jersey a  great compliment by treating them as rational adults tough enough to deal with the truth and reality.

Christie cornucopia…

I like New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.  His Jersey accent is a bit harsh on my ears,  and his bluntness isn’t the Southern graciousness which was drummed into me.  But hey — he’s a politician, not a gray-haired old lady come to Sunday dinner.

I loved the blunt truth he used when telling the State of New York what he thinks of its plan to have New Jersey help pay for the reconstruction of the Tapan Zee Bridge in New York.   The issue came up in  an interview with NBC.  And now we have proof the governor was  quite right.   Here is  something else he has ditched.

Here he  explains reality to a teacher,  and he doesn’t spare the head of her labor union,  either.  There are  a few things he started asking for not long after he was sworn in.  And there is video of his appearance on Oprah.  Dick Armey of FreedomWorks pens a column praising him.

Chris Horner ponders what  the governor will  do on climate matters.   I suspect he will also do the proper thing here and drive a stake through various job-killing green initiatives.

Have some video,  and  here are some favorite lines,  plus another one from Veronique de Rugy.  And he holds his on with a late-night show host.

Ultra-liberal Marc Lamont  Hill thinks Christie is too fat to be president.    Lloyd Grove  disagrees.   His Oneness and the Democrats  must  also disagree as they’re arranging political hit jobs on him  via DoJ,  by using an author with more than a little history of this.

Salena Zito takes an interesting look at  Christie’s heritage in American politics.   His Tea Party  views are apparent in this 60 Minutes segment.   Megan McArdle  ponders whether he’s Sarah Palin or Ronald Reagan.

He’s neither.   Just his own self.  That’s plenty for me.

Christie vs. judiciary…

This will give you a headache,  but you need to read it to see how authoritarian progressives are  and that they will not hesitate to ignore law and reason in order to achieve their goals.

Obama the petty…

His Oneness is a remarkably petty and vindictive little man,  and he has surrounded himself with like-minded individuals.    Louisiana was never going to win any Race to the Top education money,  because after Katrina,  it instituted a number of charter schools and they are performing magnitudes better in New Orleans and environs than the old system.    Teachers unions absolutely despise this,  of course.

New Jersey committed another unpardonable sin by balancing its budget.  How many hours of how many days do you suppose it took some bureaucrat to find something  — anything — wrong with that state’s application,  so it could be refused?   And you and I got to pay for this vengeful work.

I agree with Daniel Foster — the Obama Administration has made a mistake by presenting Gov. Christie a reason to confront it,  and I think  this will prove to be only an opening salvo.

If you doubt liberal fantasies can wreak more than economic havoc, have a  look here.   (h/t Jonah Goldberg at The Corner)
