Flying high…

President Trump has cut some funding to the U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees,  which I would classify as a good start.   In the face of that news, the eternally corrupt Palestinian Authority  is reported  to have purchased a new luxurious $50 million private jet to be used by Pres.  Mahmoud Abbas.

Why we taxpayers are forced to give one red cent to  a fiction  is beyond me.   Abbas and his cronies are not interested in peace,  only in having a “process”  by which he can garner more funding,  precious little of which actually reaches his people.

Bet you don’t know…

…that large donors are  bailing out  on the Democratic convention.   Gallons of ink were spilled by MSM touting all the donors who declined to pony up for the Republican convention now underway in Cleveland,  but how much will the Democratic side of the coin get mentioned?   Not much,  I suspect.   Supposedly the decline is because the host committee’s request for an IRS exemption was turned down.   The fact that the Democratic candidate is such a disaster might also have a tiny bit of influence in the matter.

The  walkout at  the Netroots convention this weekend,  fueled by progressive activists,  obviously has Democrats far more worried about the Clinton candidacy than any of them are willing to admit.

Bullet train misfires…

California has  yet another  useless,  hideously expensive boondoggle,  one more useless project which was based on lies.   The 800-mile High Speed Train network was supposed to be funded with matching funds from various government and private entities,  so that taxes would not have to be raised to pay for it.

It is at least 50% over budget,  and the best California can do at this stage is kill the project,  considering that the state’s May cap-and-trade carbon dioxide auction raised only $10 million of the expected $500 million.   Since the scheme was counting on borrowing against future auction proceeds as an income stream,  the economics are flat out busted,  not that anyone with a decent brain ever thought they would actually work.

Now the question is whether voters will allow the state to use the $500 million reserve on a filed liberal project which would have served pitifully few people.   This abject and utter failure should be Gov. Jerry brown’s lasting legacy.

Harry Reid is still a liar…

In his self-serving,  whiny letter  to Speaker John Boehner,  Sen. Reid inferred he had never sought to block funding for the Iraq War,  which simply is not true.

Detroit education…

leave a comment »

Bribing school children  with new Nikes to show up on the day the class counts are taken is not educating them.   This is only about qualifying for the most federal and state money possible.   Otherwise,  the kids would have to earn the shoes by consistent attendance.

Is it any wonder that Detroit is crumbling into ruins?

NPR funding…

Mark Browning continues   his investigation of NPR funding.  Regardless of the numbers,  what is clear is that NPR gets far more of its money from taxpayers than it is willing to admit.
