Sorest loser…

I’m sorry, but Serena Williams is a superstar,  but not the magnificent role model she pretends to be.   She did not play well at the U.S. Open and Naomi Osaka took advantage of it and beat her to win the title.   Osaka deserved to win.   Williams deserved to lose.   She could have shown class worthy of a fine role model.   Instead,  she threw a temper tantrum worthy of a two-year old and was snidely ungracious in her defeat.

This cartoon  says it  perfectly,  but the cartoonist is taking heat for it.  Apparently Ms. Williams’ fans are rather short in the class category themselves.   Perhaps they are still unhappy that Ms. Williams’ strikingly unflattering  catsuit will  not be allowed at the French Open.

Martina Navratilova has  some valuable  words on the issue,  and one can scarcely claim she was shy about taking up for herself during her storied career.

John McCain, R.I.P.

leave a comment »

Sen. John McCain announced he was  discontinuing  his brain cancer treatment just a few days ago, and  has now  died.   He will be lionized,  but I shall not join in,  and I will not miss him.   I miss Charles Krauthammer daily,  his wit and wisdom and turn of phrase having been part of my life for many years.

McCain spent most of his life being a jerk and glorying in it.   He held himself out to be a moral arbiter,  conveniently forgetting what he and John Kerry did to the families of Vietnam POW’s.   I always suspected he himself thought he had failed to live up to his father and grandfather —    one of the few things I agreed with him on.   The only behavior I saw consistent evidence of was his belief that he should be more important than anyone else.   He changed his stances on political issues depending largely on whether he sought more approval from his squishy buddies and the liberal media.  The same  liberal media  which called him a racist and Islamophobe during his presidential run against Sait Barack Obama, are now praising McCain, as he is now dead and has no chance to rise up and object to their narrative.

I hope he rests in peace,  but I will not mourn him.

Sen. Chuck Schumer is introducing a resolution  to rename  a Senate  office building after McCain.   I doubt it is because Schumer either liked or respected him.   Sarah Palin  was most  gracious  —  probably more than her former running mate deserved.   Pres.  Trump responded appropriately and quickly given the acrimony between the two men.

UPDATE:  Meghan McCain is entitled to give a  lovely tribute  to her father.   Hillary’s memories  lack class,  but what else would you expect?

UPDATE:  Vietnam  remembers  the Navy pilot it arrested too.   So does Jay Nordlinger.

She’ll never shut up…

Hillary Clinton will go her grave whining and complaining about the injustices heaped upon her,  never accepting responsibility for her own shortcomings and myriad failures.   Now she’s  in London  comparing Pres. Trump to Turkey’s probably fraudulently re-elected Erdogan.

She is one of the Republicans’ best weapons because her arrogance and criminal behavior rub ordinary people the wrong way.

Queen Sheila forever…

If you thought I was outright lying about Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee’s long history of being an entitled annoyance to the universe at large,  and service workers in  particular,   feast  your eyes  on  these links, and do remember that the woman whose seat she stole is a lifelong  human rights activist!

Rep. Jackson-Lee has never been interested in anybody but herself, and if she thought she could get away with wearing a coronet instead of having her hair braided into one,  she would.   Like Barack Obama,  she tends to tilt her head so she is literally looking down her nose at the rest of us,  and the action is as unattractive on her as it is on the former president,  and also like him,  she is an  utter hypocrite  about her beliefs and policies.   The only picture of her I’d really enjoy seeing is one of her after she is defeated in her next election,  but the poor souls who vote for her dont know any better,  and Queen Sheila works hard to keep them uneducated,  ignorant and easily led.   I feel quite sorry for them, as I’m sure most of those in the 18th District of Texas,  even if they are Democrats,  deserve a hell of a lot better than they have gotten from her since 1995.

Hillary’s smart?

Once upon a time she had some intellectual firepower,  but the rottenness of her character has destroyed her gray cells at an alarming rate.   I don’t use Twitter,  I don’t follow anyone on it,  even though I can compress a thought into the small amount of space it allows,  but even I know that her praise for   her husband for not being on Twitter while President is idiotic,  because Twitter didn’t exist until about a decade after she and Slick Willie  left the White House.

That should tell you just how stupid and inattentive she thinks We the People are.   that means you,  chump.

She’s never gone…

There is an old  country song  by Dan and the Hot Licks which asks “How can I miss you when you won’t go away?  I very much doubt Hillary Clinton has ever heard of it,  much less listened to it,  but it should be her eternal theme song,  because she won’t go away either.   Peggy  Ryan absolutely nails the former First Lady  here.

UPDATE:  The American Spectator takes it a  step further.

Some  pictures are  worth gallons of ink,  as Steven Hayward so astutely notes.
