Prager sells out…

leave a comment »

The Santa Monica Symphony had a fundraising concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles.   Its guest host was conservative radio host Dennis Prager,  who is absolutely passionate about classical music,  and who has been a guest conductor for various orchestras.

With boring predictability,  liberals called  for a boycott  of the performance,  supported by the mayor of Santa Monica and a city councilman who said they wouldn’t attend.   Just as easily forecast, some of the musicians refused to perform,  with two of them penning an open letter saying “Dennis Prager is a right wing radio host who promotes horribly bigoted positions,”  which naturally served to point out their own left-wing bigotry.   And all the extra attention drove sales up,  so the event was a sell-out!

Read what Dennis himself had to say about it,  here.

ESPN is crazy…

leave a comment »

ESPN has  pulled an  Asian man named Robert Lee from announcing a University of Virginia football game lest it upset someone.   His name became a political issue only because ESPN made it one.   My advice to Mr. Lee is to find another job.

I was wrong —  ESPN isn’t really crazy,  it’s just plain stupid!

Trump on killing terrorists…

leave a comment »

Oh,  how fine it is to have a president who understands that soldiers are meant to  kill bad guys and break things.   Who believes that field commanders should have the flexibility to fight effectively,  which requires rules of engagement that actually allow them to fire weapons without approval from the White House after going up a very long chain of command and being vetted and considered by a large number of people who have never dodged a bullet in their lives.

President Trump very smartly  used the  examples of unity and common purpose consistently displayed by our armed service members to encourage unity amongst the American people,  but don’t think for an instant that the Lefties in the media  —  but I repeat myself,  don’t I? —  will give the man much credit for it,  and they will forecast failure instantly.

I don’t find Sen. John McCain’s praise for the  speech helpful,  since he mischaracterized the malfeasance of the Obama Administration and to some extent his own previous criticisms of Trump,  but I grudgingly give him credit for the praise.  I was far  more interested in the view  of Rich Lowry and   that of  Quin Hillyer,  and Roger  Simon,  with the most interesting being from  the Conservative  Treehouse.

Chasing the eclipse…

leave a comment »

Scientists are planning to  chase the  shadow of the moon using NASA’s research jets during the upcoming total solar eclipse in the US,  to capture the clearest ever images of the Sun’s outer atmosphere.   They will be studying  the ionosphere,  among other things.  For those of us who will be earthbound for the event,  you can use  this site  to type in your zip code and discover when it will most impact your area.

Here is  some of  the gear you should have gotten.  Did you  get a telescope?   Or a  certified filter  for your camera?   Or will you just be in one of these  hot watch  spots?  If you  don’t have  the certified ISO glasses,  don’t look!   But there are other things you can do, laid  out here.

Traffic has  been awful  in many of the  best viewing  areas,  but none can beat South Carolina for maintaining a  sense of humor  about the entire affair.

While this eclipse is a  wondrous thing  to witness,   remember it’s just a business  opportunity  for some,  while it’s an event carrying different shades of meaning for many cultures,  including the Navajo.

You probably shouldn’t try tying the event to Trump supporters as the Boston  Globe did,  and you should definitely use care,  especially if you’re driving because some of those in traffic with you won’t be paying attention to the road.  There will be a plethora of pictures from a wide variety of sources,  so even if you can’t observe in real time,  you won’t miss a thing!

Charlottesville set-up…

leave a comment »

As she so often does,  Clarice Feldman clarifies what  actually happened  at Charlottesville.   Pres. Trump said precisely  the right  thing in response to the violence there at what was most likely a set-up orchestrated as a Democratic dirty tricks operation by a former Obama supporter,  with the willing connivance of Gov. Terry McAuliffe,  a Democratic mayor,  and a national media which could be counted on to obscure the truth  and create a meme to attack the president and his supporters.

Big Media and the Democrats are still at it,  despite new and damaging information continuing to emerge,  which if We the People are paying due attention,  will  ruin the  Democratic Party for at least a generation.  Get this part straight:  the Left is not merely fine with employing violence,  but actually prefers it as a tool for achieving its political ends because social unrest and distrust is always useful to them.   It matters,  because what they do to protesters is what  they will  do to you.  History is a good teacher if we listen.

Trump tax returns…

…are  not subject  to  FOIA requests according to a federal judge.   Cue the shrieks of outrage and fury from the Left,  which is always big on privacy unless it’s your privacy getting in its way.

Cat naps…

with 5 comments

If you have a cat,  these photos  will make perfectly good sense to you.   If you don’t,  you will wonder not only how cats get themselves into such awkward-looking confines,  but why they even attempt it.   They are enormously flexible creatures,  but perhaps they try simply because they like a really stiff challenge.
